Valdez’s appearance yesterday was the longest relief outing by an Astros pitcher in more than 25 years per McTaggart.

The Astros have struck a deal to pick up righty Chase De Jong, per Mark Berman of FOX 26 (Twitter link). He had been working with the indy league Sugarland Skeeters.

We stacked with Skeeters.

MLB Source: Initial diagnosis for #Astros closer Roberto Osuna is that he needs to undergo season-ending Tommy John surgery. However, Osuna is getting a second opinion. If the initial diagnosis is accurate it would be huge loss for the Astros.

Lord, protect Yordan's bum knees from these feasting demons.

This would be the second TJ for Osuna. He had it in 2013 while still in the minor leagues. This is probably the end of Osuna's Astros career. TJ would cause him to miss the 2021 season and he's a free agent after 2021 so the Astros will likely non tender him.

Does this mean Ryan Pressly is our new closer?

If Covid doesn't end the season soon, it at least gives Pressly a long audition for the job in 2021.
