Regardless of baseball, I think it got to the point where he needed to just get it done to get past it for quality of life/health/pain reasons.

ETA: but yes he is likely done with the Astros, and possibly playing altogether, given his age.

Dammit… so I guess LF will be some combo of Diaz, Yordan, and Mancini?

In a sane and ideal world, yes. But Mancini doesn’t play LF, according to the idiot who makes out the lineups. And Mancini apparently doesn’t play first base, either, according to the same idiot.

Yes.

Bigger question...Has Uncle Mike played his last game?

Very possible. Even though his power had fallen off this year, he was always a dependable hitter.

Now to talk Bregman into being right handed Brantley!

Dusty has zero interest in playing Mancini in LF. Expect plenty of Chas in LF with Dubon in CF.

Dubon is JVs CF moving forward. Don't know why. But that was another Dumbass Dusty Declaration.

Dubon does not need to be starting a playoff game. It should be Yordan in LF and Chas in CF

This news prob saved Yuli’s job unfortunately

Shouldn't... even Diaz on the bench doesn't make sense

Yuli should be the bat off the bench when Chas/Jake comes up in a big spot

Altuve 2B
Bregman 3B
Yordan DH
Mancini 1B
Tucker RF
Diaz LF
Pena SS
Vazquez C
McCormick CF

Or put them in whatever order you want, but that’s easily your best 9 guys

I agree with this.

Yuli, Jake, Dubon, Maldy on the bench.

Did you see he started yesterday and went 0fer while Yuli had 3 hits. Dusty is smarter than you. You'll see.

I saw a report today Conforto is still looking to sign in September. He was hurt and never signed in the off-season/because of the lockout. If he is healthy and passes a physical and is willing to just sign for the rest of the year (both big ifs) I think it’s worth pursuing pretty aggressively. He could platoon with Aledmys in LF and is a nice hedge against Diaz eventually coming back to Earth. Something to consider

Wait. You mean they can both play at the same time? Has anyone reminded Dusty?

It still wouldn't be the best lineup, but it could be better.

Needs to be on the 40-man before September to be playoff eligible. Even if he's "rehabbing" in the minors he has to be there. And putting a 60-day on Brantley frees up a spot.

Yep.

And for all the talk of Mancini (rightfully so) I am still more aggravated at the treatment of Vazquez. We traded a decent prospect for a solid veteran who is better than our current catcher, and he’s being treated like a scrub. And sorry, I’m not buying this fool’s gold from Maldonado.
