The Mets-Astros deal for Justin Verlander is official, per source. MLB had to approve the money the Mets are sending to the Astros to pay down Verlander's salary, which is now done

Tigers lefty Eduardo Rodriguez invoked his no-trade clause to kill a trade to the Dodgers, according to ESPN’s Jeff Passan. Passan writes that a deal was in place pending Rodriguez’s approval, but is now dead.
Eduardo Rodriguez, you are now a top-3 Non-Astros favorite player.
THIS is how you say, frick da yodgers.

I would love to know why he wouldn’t wanna go to LA and stay in Detroit

Look, if you had one shot, one opportunity to seize everything you ever wanted, one moment would you capture it or just let it slip?

Eduardo doing the Lord's work in carrying the same hate as we do for the Dodgers.

I dunno. Maybe his palms were sweaty and his knees were weak.

Does JV wear an Astros hat in the hall of fame now?

He had no interest in Dave’s playoff game pitching decisions. LOL

Another WS (win or lose) or CY, 100% Astros hat.

think adding JV over Max gives us a better chance of winning the division
I’d rather Max start a playoff game over JV though
Yep.
And winning the division and avoiding the wild card round (because the AL Central sucks) basically doubles your odds in the playoffs.
Verlander has been excellent over the last month or so and he's more rested than usual.
Gilbert and Clifford are just prospects, we have all seen plenty even highly ranked guys bust.
I like it, but as usual, time will tell.

We have a pretty good history of sending the right prospects in trades. The original JV deal, Greinke, Cole all ended up as great deals for us
Basically since the 2015 Gomez disaster trade

Truthfully, neither guy gives me warm and fuzzies when thinking of them starting a postseason game.

We don’t talk about that

What’s funny is we treated losing Brett Wallace like we are with Gilbert/Clifford
Hader was the brutal one to lose

That Greinke deal ended up being a giant poo poo platter. I didn’t give a shite when we dealt Bryan De La Cruz but he’s turned into a really nice player, one I wish we still had

Yeah he’s the only one that hurts
