Yeah but frick, the O's never deal well at the deadline and Angelos is a know trade cock block. Luhnow knew this.

I am normally a Luhnow sunshine pumper but today pissed me off. I am over it now.

Let's win the AL boys

The man didn't have a backup plan for this very situation. Once again the rich get richer and run laps around Uncle Crane's yes man. Sad

Britton would have been nice.

I just don't think that deal is making or breaking this team.

Not sure if Gray would have pushed us over the edge either. Just a few weeks ago people were wishy washy on Gray but since he went to a different team he makes them World Series contenders

Sucks that nothing major happened, but maybe it is for the best

We will never know but I'm sure it would have hurt. The owner probably went to MLB.com top prospects and didn't see a top 5 guy being sent over and vetoed it. The stories about how some owners do things is baffling.

No one is pumping sunshine.

But you're also reaching far with this. When they say the deal is done, what are you supposed to do? Jesus, you can say that Luhnow fricked a GMs wife and took his players and some people would still find fault in some bullshite out of thin air.

That busts a lot of holes in the "Luhnow is an idiot theory"

The plan was set and in motion and was blown up by an overbearing owner in the 11th hour. It was going to be close to impossible for him to reconfigure another deal in the 2 o clock hour.

The rental on Kintzler happened at the last second and should have been something we were in on regardless of the outcome of the Britton trade.

I empathize with Geoff on the Britton deal but shite happens. The dodgers were in on Britton and still got stuff done.

I think Britton would have been a big get, especially with Harris iffy. He's a huge upgrade over whoever you pushing out of the playoff bullpen, Gregerson, Sipp, whoever.

Oh well. This is still the best team in the AL

I'm upset because we are positioned for a postseason run. Kalas is hinting about the fan disappointment. The GM simply did not get it done.

I'm admittedly reaching here but he might have had a set of guys he was willing to deal and didn't want to be a dick and screw a gm over.

You don't know that. What if that's someone they had no interest in? What if it was something the Twins loved and couldn't turn down?

How deep into the discussion was that deal at 2 p.m.

How does it look when Luhnow comes calling at the last hour? Antony and Levine aren't stupid they know at that point they've got him by the balls because Britton fell through.

It's just not as black and white as "He should have had a back up plan"

It does tell me they will look hard at August waiver deals, since they were expecting to get Britton done and didn't. Doubt they will be anything that big but we will see

Also, we might not have the same record next year but we are literally returning everyone except Beltran and that should be an upgrade with Gattis back to dh

Verlander should clear waivers with his contract. Actually a team will probably claim him just to block him and hope/know Detroit won't let him go for nothing

after the last 3 years, the whole show knows they've got luhnow by the balls.

other teams didn't seem to have a problem making deals at the wire, just luhnow. hmmm

I guess you missed the part where I said we should have been working on that REGARDLESS OF BRITTON.

If you arent going to get Gray or Yu then you go balls out into the pen and giving up one mediocre prospect (which is what it would have taken) is not a significant loss for the farm and would have been a significant upgrade for the MLB club

All the teams making deals, only 1 will win a championship.

Lots of traded players won't make much of an impact on their team

Lots of prospects traded and not traded will not pan out and fans will be mad

Playoff baseball is a fricking crapshoot. Just have to hope your team has the right guys playing well at the right time.

I am sure Verlander will clear waivers. I don't think the Astros will get him though
