anchors, we don't need anchors

Anchors are for sailors.
And we all know what they say about sailors. It's not gay if you're underway.
Conclusion... Owlie is behind the anchors.

Dusty gets another opportunity to screw the pooch in NYC.

Not upset by it by any means, but just noticing they bumped Luis back a couple of days and using Framber and JV on regular rest even with the off day yesterday

The 1st base trade market sucks. It's basically Josh Bell and not much else. Garrett Cooper was mentioned yesterday which might not be a bad option.
Here's a list of qualifying first baseman and there's not a lot. The good ones are already playing for contenders, a few more adequate ones are playing for fringey wild card teams or improving rebuilders like Trey Mancini on the Orioles.

Josh Bell- Nationals
Jesus Aguilar- Marlins
Garrett Cooper- Marlins
CJ Corn- Rockies
Corn is a product of Coors. His road numbers are miserable. Don't make that mistake. A wild card here is Jose Abreu. White Sox are 34-38, 6 games back of Toronto for WC2. Abreu is a FA at years end. If they fall further out of it, i wonder if they'll be open to trading him.

Christian Walker has one of the weirdest stat lines I've ever seen hitting .206/.307/.478 but only striking out 19% of the time. His BABIP is .184, his expected batting average based on statcast is .275. An upgrade over Yuli even at his current numbers and a bounceback is in order for sure
Dominic Smith is blocked with the Mets and has struggled in only 100 ABs this year but has been good in the past when he's gotten consistent playing time
Kyle Farmer has played all over the infield including 20 or so games at first the last few years. I doubt it would be an issue handling it. Been really good the last two years but might not be that cheap with a few years of control
Brandon Drury also has played 20 or so games at first the last few years and is having a great year, rental
Hunter Dozier is having a nice bounce back year but has a weird/not great contract. Probably a pass for that reason
Gavin Sheets is blocked in Chicago and was good last year/struggled this year, but fine vs just righties. Could platoon with Yuli
There are others as well who could handle first that might be available and would at the very least be a large upgrade on the current bench situation. Walker and Drury are probably my favorite of the options I posted

If you get someone who is another option at first (versatility a bonus) you can run a 5 man bench of
Castro (or fingers crossed a different catcher)
Dubon
Diaz
Yuli or New guy
Other fast OF
In October assuming everyone is healthy

Isn't the Astros Beat Writer prognosticating that Castro is gone? Thought I heard CBS 790 Radio in Houston report that this morning.

I haven’t seen it but I hope so

Uncle Mike to the IL…sigh.

Assuming it's short term, I embrace it. Rest for Mike while hopefully the Idiot plays JJ Matijevic as much as feasible to get him some experience.

Nope. Instead he’s playing the guy that was sent down (Chaz) when Peña was reactivated instead of the guy that was kept on the roster during that same move (JJ)

Even with Framber starting and the Mets throwing a RHP, leave it to the Idiot to be the Idiot.
And and and....Bregman is batting cleanup.

Come on man…Ralph Garr…how you gonna…wow man…I mean you saw what happened…Game 2 of the 81 World Series…man I found out JV pitched a no hitter once…too soon man to tell if Yuli will turn it around…heck man…no more questions.

I’m sure I’m in the minority, but I don’t think Yuli is done.
