Hell of a streak you had going, Hoohoo!! Well done! And also, welcome back JWho!!

We've got Chuck Salt on the mound tonight. Let's start another 12 in a row.

Can we all agree that Yuli has no business at 3rd base? He didn't look good at all last night.

Yeah, Hinch did a bit of experimentation last night with the defense and how he used Rondon. You never know what kind of injury issues (or even Marwin ejections arguing balls and strikes) will cause Hinch to have to piece together a lineup in October when it matters most.

When the Astros started their 36-game stretch of weak opponents to close out the first half, I predicted 30-6.

Currently 11-1, and on pace for 33-3 over that stretch.

I'll take it.

Yeah I don’t really have a problem with giving guys days off and putting guys in different spots. At the end of the day, we’re going to lose 30+ more games and as long as we make the playoffs none of it matters.

It’s frustrating to watch, but I feel like AJ has earned benefit of the day

Yeah I didn’t necessarily have a problem with this and it’s not even like he had a major blowup leadoff double that might not make it around if bregman was at 3rd. I think everyone including ludlow and hunch expects us to make a trade for a high profile back end guy. Having an idea of what roles each guy can handle will be nice. I’m certainly not opposed to rondon being a Cody Allen who can mentally lock down the ninth but not be a guy to plug in in the 7th or 8th in the high leverage spot. I think each has their own mentality and just because you excel at one doesn’t mean you can handle the other. Heck just look at rondons own history pre and post Chapman trade. And then we’ve for years cycled in our outstanding set up guy only for them to fail in the 9th. I don’t necessarily want to pay the price for hand but he’s a lefty who’s handled the 8th 9th can go more than 3 outs and has a sub 1 whip

Remember when K-Rod helped Anaheim win the 2002 world series after only pitching 5.2 innings during the regular season?

Remember when Wainwright came in as a rookie in 2006 and helped the Cardinals lock down a world series?

Remember when Madison Bumgarner came up as a rookie in 2010 and threw 8 shutout innings in game 4 of the world series?

Could be that the heroes the Astros need are already in the system.

LSUTyger76, I am happy you started a DAT!

Hope you've found a replacement on the radio dial since 1560AM is no longer airing Astros games in New Orleans.

Here's to you hosting for at least 10 or 11 games, dare I say 12 games?

Go Stros!!!

This.

I’m not a fan of regimented “roles” in a bullpen as it is but especially not when you don’t really have a set hierarchy of who your best guys are. Right now we have a mishmash of guys who range from okay to pretty good.

Maybe you need to go back to pumping gas at the Buc-ee's in Madisonville every day again....that got us off to a good start on the 12 game winning streak

Yeah last night's loss isn't a big deal in the grand scheme of things, it's always frustrating when we lose a game where Verlander was awesome, especially at home. Seems like we should win more games when he starts.

The shuffling of positions had nothing to do with the loss last night. As with most losses, it was simply a failure to capitalize on offensive opportunities, especially early.

Insulting Tyler White is a bold move in the DAT. We’ll see if it pays off

Ok Astros fans, don’t overreact to this but..... @wasteph_wes said Peter Gammons said on MLB Network that the Astros are interested in Jose Abreu. He said the White Sox have been scouting the Astros farm system leading many to think a deal is being discussed

quote:

And this is pretty much implied, but Gammons also agrees that the bullpen should and probably will be the main priority

quote:

Just saw the video. Gammon says sources close to the organization (Astros) view Raisel Iglesias as a main trade target. As for Britton, Luhnow is in “wait and see” mode.

Abreu and Iglesias are the two dream targets IMO, aside from maybe Hand.

Britton scares me but at least he’s back pitching

Yuli in LF? Woof.

Don't think an Abreu trade ultimately makes much sense for us. If Tucker ans Whitley are off limits, it likely means Alvarez would have to go. As much as I'd like Abreu, I don't think offense is such a pressing need that we should give up a top prospect for him.

Nothing local yet. It's been hell. I've burned through so much data on my phone to hear Ford and Sparks!
