Can we just go play at the Trop instead? I don't want these boys to go back home.

Ahunt, I live in Cibolo. Where you at in SA?

Wow. We hit into more double plays than we had strikeouts today. And we struck out 3 times.

I’m actually just visiting with the family. Drove down from Lake Charles.

The Mets faced a tough challenge from the Astros in the race to sign Yoenis Cespedes in the 2016-17 offseason, John Harper of the New York Daily News reports. The Astros reportedly made Cespedes a similarly-sized offer (four years, $110MM) that the outfielder was “strongly considering,” according to one Mets source.
Another Mets-connected person tells Harper that Cespedes’ “considerations were [to play for a] contender, money, no-trade clause, and [to] train in Florida near his ranch,” and Houston checked off all of those boxes but was unwilling to provide full no-trade protection.
Interesting. That worked out in our favor. We ended up with a historic offense and won the world series. Cespedes has been injury plagued the last 2 seasons.

3 non moves that worked out for luhnow-1. not doubling down on stupid and signing an injured Aiken (turned to bregman) 2. The Os mismanagement of the Britton trade (turned into verlander 3. Apparently cespedes

Perez came out of the gate pumping mid 90s. Struck out the second batter faced with a beauty of a curve on the corner.

Which turned into Reddick, Beltran and possibly McCann. Not sure if they would have taken on the McCann money with paying Cespedes a boatload.
Beltran wasn't particularly special on the field but I don't discount the impact he had on the young players.

Of note through 73 games we are only 1 game back from last year (49-24 in 2017)
