Archer is the most costly due to his contract. Don't think tampa ends us trading him.

For cole or Quintana, be prepared to say goodbye to 2 of KTuck, Martes, Franklin Perez, and maybe Whitley. If Pitt wants top MLB ready talent then I'm not sure we have enough top guys ready at AAA that fit that mold

The package depends on the quality of pitcher, his age, total cost of the contract and totals years of control.

It's all of the above that make Quintana and Archer so expensive.

If Luhnow and Co. believe in Martes long term while not looking to give up Frankie Perez either, they may just go the rental route with Estrada or similar.

I still believe in Reed and I think that he still is a solid piece in a trade. Martes is a top 20 prospect. Fisher top 100.

Essentially 3 top 100 prospects who are currently performing well in AAA cant get it done?

MLB network was just talking about Toronto trade deadline possibilities. They mentioned Donaldson and happ. If you're our GM would you consider throwing in bregman and some pieces to get one or both of those players?

Forgot about Fisher when I typed that, so maybe you're right. Don't know how much interest PIT would have in Reed as they are trying to break in a top 1B prospect of their own, Josh Bell

Looking at their big league roster with no idea about their top minor leaguers, it looks like PITT really need a 3rd baseman.

Yeah I have full ignorance in the needs of Pit so no clue. We do have some pieces though and a lot of guys in the field who are blocked. White, Moran, Reed, 1 of Teo/Fisher.

Ke'Bryan Hayes (Tomball, TX) is coming up at some point in the next couple of years I'd assume. He's somewhere in the top ten for them.

They need a 3rd baseman how about 3? Moran, White, Davis. 2 of which could be playing tomorrow. None of them elite but easily can add on 2 of them to complete the package.

Well, they are talking about retooling and not rebuilding. Moran is pretty much ready to learn in the big leagues now.

So assuming were healthy at the deadline, we really only need a starter and LH reliever right? I can't peg anything we need on offense. Bregman obviously needs to pick it up but he's got time. Our bench has a pinch runner/defensive replacement and a super utility guy and usually one of Gattis, Mac or Beltran depending on which of them is forced out of the lineup on a given night.

I'm a good dude, and I mean well. It doesn't make me a major league pitcher.

Bregman is somewhat the victim of expectations. The guy has hit safely in 11 of 12 games now and is hitting .253 and OBP .343 6 RBIs with no spring training and I dont think he has reached 100 games in his career at 3rd base.

He is linked with Dansby Swanson who for reference is hitting .158 with an OBP of .214 and 6 RBIs and playing his natural position.

He is and will be better than his numbers are right now.

If Bregman is in a deal you better be getting an ace starter. Donaldson is great but you still have a hole in your rotation and gave up one of your best assets.

If they dealt Bregman and Happ is the headline guy coming back I would probably set MMP on fire

The talk of trading Bregman is kind of dumb though, I seriously doubt it would happen and people are freaking out because he hasn't lived up to outsized expectations through 27 games
