As much as we hate his bat, it's not what got him a spot on the club. He checks off the boxes that he's supposed to. He's a defensive replacement and pinch runner for the many base cloggers we've got. And that's a role he fills well.
We've got a bench utility guy in Marwin who can play around the infield, LF and is apparently our emergency catcher. Plus the depth of our lineup usually leaves a solid bat on the bench for pinch hitting situations.
