Best advice for the weekend:

Watch the Masters and not the Astros!

the bullpen is a disaster and you already had a closer that is now struggling
the starting pitching is hurt
Bregman and Tucker are likely pissed they have been passed over for contract extensions

They need to focus on Tucker. Bregman can walk.

Bregman seems like the type of guy who would want to experience playing somewhere else (nothing against Houston).

I never bet against the stros but being favored in every game in the midst of this is insane

Meh. Nice player. Not worth further blowing up your already blown-up salary structure for him, especially since he declined significantly on defense last season.

Now, if the alternative is to give 3-year-deals to washed-up first basemen and inconsistent middle relievers, then sign Tucker.

Today probably isn’t the day to do it considering yesterday is still fresh on everyone’s minds, but at some point we need to have a discussion about Hunter Brown. It’s too early to give up on him but man….we were hoping/somewhat expecting him to get to the next level and he has just totally regressed since the 2nd half last season.

I’m in a fantasy baseball discord and someone posted this about him:

“ Since Hunter Brown’s rookie season:
Fastball: Down a tick and a half, less movement
Cutter: Slower, but more unique shape, this one I’m saying is even
Curveball: Substantially slower, a bit less movement but it was the power/depth combo that made it good
Splitter: Substantially less depth

His pitch shapes are regressing. That should not be happening in a 25 year old pitcher who hasn’t suffered any significant arm injuries since then”

Can't hit.
Can't pitch.
Can't win.

Counting on all of those starters coming back and being effective. Bold strategy.

We've been hosting a baseball air b&b lately. In and out overnight.

Miguel Diaz pitches one inning...DFA
Blaire Henry gets 1 out, sent back down
Mushinski sent down for 4 days, recalled Tuesday, sent down Friday
Suero recalled Tuesday, gave up the walkoff, DFA'd Friday

I just checked in on Hector Neris and he's still with us in spirit. 7.36 ERA through 4 games.

There is no Astros lineup yet because the team is evaluating a few players with nagging injuries and at least one with an illness. Chas McCormick is one of them — he has a sore hamstring, Joe Espada said.

This is what we ended up with.

Imagine paying top dollar and finding out Singleton is batting fifth.

Singleton batting 5th in 2024. I have lost all hope in Joe Espada, Dana Brown, Jim Crane and the rest of the Astros organization
