Astros in 6. Phillies are on fire right now but I think just getting to this point took everything out them.

I don't know if my body or sanity can handle Game 7 and LSU-Alabama on the same night.
Yeah. I am thinking we close it out in game 6 that Friday. Then I can have a full day to get ready for the LSU game.

Let’s just say there will be a substantial emotional hedge on Phillies +150 or whatever it is

I’m being serious. Dusty finally gets you to the promise land….. and when he does you Astros fans will still want him fired.

LOL its pretty wild.

If we win it all I wouldn't want Dusty fired. I would want him to retire.

Because they are in this position regardless of who the manager is. There is so much talent that an average DAT poster could manage this team. His lineups and other moves he has done has cost them being an even better team. He did not make this team a success. They are a success in spite of his dumbass decisions.

It’s why I hate all the favorable predictions for the Astros.
I agree. That said, 11 of the 12 people who made predictions on ESPN.com before the Yankees series picked the Astros, and it worked out. So we'll see.

I’ll give credit where credits due
He managed last postseason near flawlessly and he’s been really good again so far this one. I disagreed with bringing Lance back out after we tied the game up but that’s about it. I was thinking Montero in the 8th last night was a mistake instead of Abreu for a 2nd inning, but Dusty nailed it
It’s the way he manages the team throughout the season that pisses all of us off. And that he hates our GM and most things analytics. But when our GM gets to leave people like Maton and Will Smith off the playoff roster there’s a lot less Dusty can screw up
As said in here recently, most of us would trade 3 more years of Dusty if it meant winning it all this year.
An absolute perfect world would be he retires on top and we promote Espada, but the chances of that happening seem like slim to none

If we win it all he’s earned the right to return without a doubt. The players seem to love him, which is important. And despite his playoff rep he’s been pretty damn good managing in October for the Astros up to this point. His regular season decisions drive me up a wall and it’s possible the Astros regress (or Seattle progresses) to where those become really important.
As long as the roster remains stocked having a healthy clubhouse culture is important, and it’s clear they do with him. So I am fine either way unless he does something dumb this next series

Pretty much how I feel as well. With our talent its more important to have a guy that the team likes and keeps everyone happy.

His bullpen is currently a stacked deck.
It's like he's playing poker with a pinochle deck while everyone else is using a standard 52, and then we are amazed that the team keeps winning.
ETA: That said, I think the best manager in the game only makes a 6-8 game difference and that's pretty much a moot point right now.

Yeah he clearly has a positive impact on the clubhouse, and they really needed that after the chaos around the sign stealing scandal.
But his actual baseball philosophy is entirely antithetical to what the team has been built on over the past decade.

Yeah I say all that with the caveat that we better keep a modern analytical approach in the front office, whether that’s Click or someone else. By all accounts we are on the cutting edge of player development and it needs to stay that way. I don’t think Crane is that dumb though. Also hard to see Click leaving if we win a title

Wow…. You don’t know much about baseball do you….

It's really impressive. Sure, some guys miss, but the development of guys like Luis, Framber, Javi, Urquidy, Yordan, Pena, Abreu, Seth, Jake, Chas, etc. is significantly better than what most teams see.
And those are just guys since 2017.

Yeah, and it looks like there’s at least few who can play roles next year (Diaz was a Cleveland product but still in our system, Hensley) and I was a big fan of the group we took in the draft this year. Which is why I’d rather see Click stay than go I think

This can’t be emphasized enough. Once his guys Maton and Smith were nixed the probability of a screw up went way down. Still though, I’ll give him credit for his use of Abreu and Neris over Stanek who was clearly the superior pitcher this year. Not sure what triggered it, but so far it has worked like a charm. Also he stuck with Young Brother Brown Sat when I thought he should have had a short leash and it worked out.
The lineup is a different matter because with no load management like there is in the reg season, he’s not going to screw with the core guys. Even so, credit to him for sticking with McCormick because you know damn well he has thought about giving Dubon a start. And starting Vazquez on Saturday turned to be the game changer. His hit more or less sealed that game.
