It's pretty amazing that we might have had the worst FA bullpen signings in back to back seasons with Hader and Montero.

Pressly was worth around 0.4 WAR and is owed $14mm next year. That's a lot for a 36 year old in decline. Need to find another team that puts a ton of weight in the backs of baseball cards.

Good season, DAT people. Definitely not up to y’all’s expectations. Hope springs eternal. I expect y’all to be movers and shakers in the offseason. 2025 will be a very interesting year, to say the least.

I am sure the Rangers will do the same. Let's just hope the Mariners keep fricking it up so it's a little easier. I do believe the A's are on the cusp of being a problem again.

No doubt in my mind. You know how professional sports organizations will sorta “gift” a franchise a title when they change locations… I can see that coming for the A’s.

Something has to be done with this team at home. We keep saying this every fricking year. This crap goes back to the Nationals series.

You can credit the Tigers all you want, but it is a THING now. The White Sox could be granted a playoff spot as the worst team in almost a century and they’d win every game at Minute Maid.

Change the dimensions, change the batter’s eye, line the fricking outfield wall with pictures of garbage cans, Change the preparations, change the game day schedule, put the guys in a hotel, hire a hypnotist, go out and find every player that has the best hitting numbers at this park and sign them, but something has to change.

Not even that mad at getting swept and bounced in humiliating fashion.

I wasn't counting on a complete bullpen meltdown but I watched this dumbass offense all season and just knew all the dead weight, overly aggressive approach, double plays and risp fails were going to show up. They did nothing to get better. The trade deadline approach was "idk, Tucker will be back."

Just absolutely none of this is a surprise.

Gotta agree with you, LSUhoohoo.

Looking at 1B and Singleton at the trade deadline and thinking “ahh, we’re good”… That’s when I started having my doubts. Bottom 3rd of the lineup was straight arse for most of the season and no changes other than bringing up rookie outfielders.

And Tucker just looks like he could give a frick less. Trade him.

Yeah I'm not even bitter at Pressly or Hader. Detroit was begging to be punched in the balls in the 7th and we were LUCKY to get 2 runs.

A championship team leads 5-1 after that inning. We were not that team this year.

Also did anyone really think Tucker would be effective in crunch time after sitting around for 3 months with his bone bruise?

Time to trade him and recoup some prospects. The haul we gave up for grandpa Verlander and rental Kikuchi drained the farm.

This organization has fallen into the trap that eventually gets all title organizations. They think they can just slap an Astros uniform on a mediocre player and he’ll succeed because the jersey reads “Astros.”

Guys like Singleton, Meyers, Dubon, this year’s version of Chas just can’t play prominent roles in your everyday lineup. The front office literally decided at the deadline “Eh, we’re good rolling out Jon Singleton at first base every day.”

our core is still really strong with Altuve, Pena, Yordan, Tuck, Diaz

Hunter Brown looked good this year (besides the first month or so) and today as well.

If you had bet on DET, we had a chance

You'll learn

But they lose tmrw or next round regardless

This was the least enjoyable season since the consecutive 100 loss ones. I feel bad for those that paid good money to see this team in person, esp those that traveled to do so.

I'm 2-7 in Astros WS games. They absolutely suck at home. Nice ballpark, or so the visitors say.

I mean they're not my favorite people at the moment.

You've got the lead in the 8th inning of a win or die game, you'd prefer they not melt the frick down. Hell you've got a tie game with 2 outs. Just don't walk your guy to load the bases ans then serve up a bases loaded double. frickkk.

But whatever it was the offense that sank us, even though we had a lead and should have closed it out. Bases loaded nobody out for the top of the order. I think Altuve and Tucker were done with on 3 pitches. That was the point where you stepped on a young inexperienced teams neck and crush their spirits. We got a popout and a double play. We kept em in it. Only down by a run when it could have been so much worse. They still believed. That was it right there.

Another thing: Diaz trying to backhand that pitch in the dirt with the tying run on 3rd is unacceptable

Pressly and Hader will draw heavy criticism and rightfully so, but what happened in the bottom of the 7th is what should be looked at hardest in the offseason because it happened most of the year. Had everything set up to blow the game wide open and couldn’t even manage a hard hit ball from two of our best hitters.

We were lucky to score at all. I know you need some luck and I’ll take it from a Singleton at bat. It’s not acceptable from Altuve and Tucker.

I’ll say it again. You cannot come into next season with Cintron and Snitker. You look at the stats for a lot of this lineup and it doesn’t look bad…Until you see their approach in crucial situations, never mind soft tossing 6 ERA journeymen in August.

Massive hole at first base to fill. Likely massive hole at third base to fill. Need a third outfielder. I can live with Chas if he’s the worst of the three but can’t go into next season with both Jake AND Chas. Yordan is a DH. End of story. Quit risking his legs by more running than necessary.

Stuck with Hader, but need a 7th inning guy. Move Abreu to 8 and Pressly to low leverage.

Or blow it up.

That sounds nice and all but we won a World Series with Brian McCann, Marwin Gonzalez, Evan Gattis, and Josh Reddick (was a gamer though) starting world series games for us.

That 2022 lineup had some holes as well with Maldonado/Vasquez and Mancini/Aledmys.

Just went back and looked at the Ibanez AB. Hader threw him nothing but fastballs. He fouled off 3 off them and took one for a ball. Guy was selling out to pull a fastball. He would have cork screwed himself on a good slider.

The obvious answer for these types for everyone in baseball is the farm. No one overpays for journeymen relievers like we do. I think our 7th inning guy is a name that many around here have forgotten. The once untouchable prospect, Forrest Whitley

Filling 1b, 3b, lf, and cf is going to be a problem. Maybe Melton is ready for cf

Yup. He painted himself into a corner by losing the first guy and then had no confidence to throw anything else to Ibanez.
