These were good players having good (and some even career) seasons. There's no comparing them to the trash we were filling out the back half of the lineup with this season.

Hinch gets his revenge on Crane. It was a good run though.

All of those guys did way more in their careers than the guys I mentioned. Gonzalez had 23 HRs and an OPS over .900 in 2017.

Chas McCormick had a great season last year and hasn’t done much otherwise except for a World Series catch in Philly. Dubon had a career year last year and regressed to who he’s always been. Meyers is Jake Marisnick 2.0. Singleton was out of the league for 8 years until last year and has a negative career WAR.

Exactly. Marwin and Reddick hit over 300.

The Astros will still have the most talented team in the AL next year. They are very young and will sign a couple more bats

well yeah and if our best players were injured in 2017 we wouldve had to do the same. Tucker and Yordan both dealt with injuries this year.

They should have the strongest starting pitching staff in the AL given we get Luis Garcia and Christian Javier back. Urquidy and LMJ (LOL) to the bullpen

ETA: forgot about Graveman too

What does that have to do with the back half of the lineup being a complete and utter dumpster fire?

Look at this loser. "Aw gee were just happy to have been part of it".

You had a $240 million payroll and World Series expectations. The post season isn't a goal, it's a baseline expectation. Guy is soft as frick. I don't wanna hear him harp about how proud they were just to be there. A real leader says we fell short of our goals and that starts with me. We're going to take a hard look at how we can get better.

Kyle Tucker is hitting .167 in 26 postseason games since 2022. It’s has nothing to do with injuries. He is simply not a playoff caliber player and the statistics back it up

it sucked but the dude was acting like you cant win with it. The team we just lost to had a bottom 6 lineup this year.

we proved in 2022 you can win with a very similar lineup. Just seems like hindsight to me to say it was impossible to win with this years lineup. If our best hitters were hot at the right time I felt like we could compete.

Season Team PA BB% K% BB/K AVG OBP SLG OPS ISO BABIP wRC
24 2022 HOU 6054 8.7% 19.5% 0.4 .248 .319 .424 .743 .176 .278 761
30 2024 HOU 6107 7.3% 19.3% 0.4 .262 .322 .418 .741 .157 .299 769

we needed the June version of this team to show up in October

Also don’t forget we had prime Springer and Correa.

There wasn’t much on that team other than Shitstain Giles that wasn’t solid.

If everything went just right (like someone like Pena playing out of his mind), we all knew we could compete. No one who watched them this year closely should have expected anything like that.

The 2022 group was a 106 win team with many more strengths (for example, overall pitching staff, better plate approaches and the defense was wayyyyy better).

This team is regressing. Fast.

Altuve is still in his prime. The Astros have a good five years of being the best team in the AL coming up

gotta keep our pitching staff healthy and pena, yordan, tucker, diaz together and I can see it!

Altuve will be really good for the next 2-3 seasons and even after that he can contribute. Let's get him another ring!

Javier will miss most if not all of 2025. But a Frambaw, Brown, Blanco, Garcia, Spaghetti rotation is solid. I'd pull the trigger on a Soto (obviously not as big) style deal where we trade Frambaw away for a couple young big league ready pieces to fill the gaping holes at lf, cf, 1b and 3b. A team picking up a high leverage reliever and starting oufielder in a playoff game off waivers in August is unacceptable and shows how we're way too thin.

If we trade Frambaw, just have to figure out the rotation with those 4 urquidy, france or Kikuchi esque signing.
