I’m glad Altuve can get off that leg. I wonder if he’s going to have to have surgery

I'll be shocked if he doesn't have surgery to repair a torn meniscus. Remember McCann played the latter half of last season and early this season with a tear before he had to have surgery. I'm just hoping he goes ahead and gets it done and doesn't wait and have it linger like McCann

You think Correa will need surgery? Depending on what it is, a back surgery could be a pretty major crunch to get him back before opening day. At this point, we still don't have any details on what it was that was actually wrong with him.

Altuve’s surgery is set, you can believe that.

Meniscus at minimum. He’ll be fine come Feb.

Marwin will be re-signed. Morton will sign a 1 year deal. We will give Keuchel’s money to a worthy #3 arm.

C and DH will be our focus. I still think Tucker will answer the bell as an OF/DH option.

If he needs it, I’ll be shocked if he doesn’t have it in the next couple weeks. Go on vacation then get it done.

Damn, the Red Sox machine looks unstoppable this season, and I was pulling for the Dodgers this year to right last season's wrong.

Someone needs to get that kid a live chicken to sacrifice. You guys may have a better eye than I do, but he showed me absolutely nothing at the ML level that he can hit a breaking ball. I know that’s an unpopular opinion at the moment, but damn he did not show much when he had a chance.

I’m gonna go with the Rant cliche and say “I hope I’m wrong.”

Theres going to be a team like LAA or Cincinnati that shells out 1st money when CyBeard is a 3rd on decent rotations now. I'll miss him but theres no way the Stros will resign him for what mid pack teams will offer. If I had to guess I'll say he lands with the White Sox.

Yup. He's having surgery.

Give Charlie a QO at $17+ million, he'll probably accept that.

One the one hand, I'd like to see Tucker given a chance...but on the other LF is an obvious area that we can upgrade. It'd suck if he busts and we're left with a big hole in the lineup.

I've got my eye on Daniel Murphy as a potential DH or my dream scenario, Nelly Cruz.

Crawfish Boxes had an article up recently and minus our free agents plus the anticipated arbitration raises, we should have $55 million coming off the books. From the things I've read from Mariners press recently, they're anticipating something like 2 years 30-35 million for Cruz.

Very young with 1/100th the confidence of a Bregman

Kid hits too good to not get it.

James, Valdez, Whitley, and McCullers can fight over 4 and 5, leaving 2 very good relievers

I'm all in on Josh James as a starter. He damn well may be a filthy late inning guy but he needs to get every shot at the rotation next year. We played a Red Sox team that wasn't chasing anything and he had them looking silly on his change up for 6Ks in 3 innings.

Personally, I’d like the young kids fight over #5. Re-sign Morton and put him back at #4. He had a fantastic season this year minus him running out of gas in October. Sign a veteran for #3. Patrick Corbin? Or will he demand too much? Looking over some write-ups, he won’t fetch too much more than Keuchel.

Eovaldi?
Estrada?

Was gonna wait till the offseason thread to start talking about next year but what the hell. I wholeheartedly concur with going after realmuto at catcher. McCann is done I think. Maldonado left a lot to be desired this series with passed balls and bad pitch selection. Both are slow and offensively challenged. Be aggressive and get your catcher for the future.

DH. Names have already been thrown around. Cruz and goldschmidt. Get one of them. We need a legit homerun threat at DH and we don’t have that on this roster right now.

I feel like everything else might come from internal. Need tucker to mature and ready to play a role next year. Framber and josh James should be ready to take the next step. Maybe one fills in for keuchel and the other fills a bullpen role. Or we can go and get a sonny grey or an eovaldi. We definitely need to trim some fat in the bullpen. Decisions on Harris, peacock, Devo, smith and rondon need to be addressed.

And the biggest thing is getting guys healthy. McCullers, Morton (if we resign him) altuve, Correa.

McCullers with a turn UCL. Likely to have Tommy Johns. Would be done for 2019

It might be worth signing a free agent starter this year. Next off season is going to decimate our rotation. Verlander, Cole and potentially Morton if we give him a 1 year deal. 2020 isn't a great class for SP.

Some Internet Mets blogger is the only guy saying this so I'm not going to believe it until it's official. It's hard to believe that both Lance, being on a rookie contract, and the Astros would hurry him back to pitch on a torn ligament.

Yeah, we are spending for an arm

That’s why I don’t see a high profile DH signing, esp w C being a concern
