But the thing is Mookie makes those plays often. If we were down one sure but we needed baserunners. Just not a smart play

It was a phenomenal play regardless, but with less than 6 outs remaining and down 3 runs, every base runner matters.
The difference between scoring one vs more can all change with just one out.

Or how about a routine 6-3 DP that your shortstop decides to not touch second base that lets a run score.
