Wrasslin is a soap opera for men. And there is nothing wrong with that. It is what is has become.

Any franchise with continuity is.

Wrestling is about the performances. The best build in history (Sting vs Hogan) is forgotten as the all timer, because their blowoff match was lackluster.

Omega vs Danielson was the best TV match of the year. The story was these two guys are considered the best workers in the biz.

The match wasn’t the problem, the story told during it was, the fast count/screw job finish then the restart and then vacating the title. They belt up to that for months and then pissed it all away because they gave creative control to a guy who wouldn’t put others over (AEW EVPs checking in).

The match sucked period which was a combo of Sting being out of ring shape and Hogan being Hogan.

The booking made it that much worse. And dropping the ball one year later with Goldberg in a similar screwy finished was pretty much the death blow for the company.

Did anything particularly bad come out (pun not intended) about Undertaker in the Kanyon documentary?

Of all the mid-90s guys, Undertaker has a relatively minimal level of dirt/scandals.

Especially if we compare him to Warrior, Rick Rude, Scott Hall, Hennig, Shawn Michaels, the rest of the Clique, Flair, etc.

Not from what I saw. Watched probably 90% of it and the Taker mentions were in reference to an on air segment where Kanyon was flaming it up singing a Boy George song.

I figured they would have covered more because Taker stood out as the “locker room leader” in that timeframe because he went out of his way to make WCW guys look like shite and say they couldn’t wrestle.

Not that several of those guys were great but Taker no-selling everything and even Kane of all people doing the same stands out.

Starrcade 97 is still the most bought PPV in the industry’s history outside of WrestleManias. I’m almost 100% sure that at the time it was the second most purchased PPV in industry history - maybe the third. What’s ridiculous is there were several ways they could have booked that main event that would have saved it:

1. Patrick doesn’t frick up the fast count. I still don’t like this one, but at least it would fit.

2. They should have had Bret as the special guest referee from the start, not on the Bischoff match. Have Sting win after Bret does some whoop arse on the NWO and throws them out of the ring, the fallout from this would have led to a Hogan-Hart feud while Nash would have pursued Sting to get the title back for the nWo which would have led to a more organic NWO split.

3. Just let Sting go over clean and have his reign. Hell they could have even had him put Hogan “at the back of the line” and say he would face every NWO member before Hogan before Hogan got his chance and then Hogan wins it back with shenanigans has his gloating phase before Goldberg takes the strap.

The NWO was too dominant for too long, with too many run-ins at the end of matches. I remember people standing up looking at the ramp to see who is going to run in for the nwo when it looked like a wcw guy would win a match against them. It just got stupid and watered down when everyone joined the nwo as well

Well most normal people (AEW banned term) don’t care about the dark underbelly of an industry that is suppose to be light and entertaining (AEW banned term) and definitely don’t want that dark underbelly to be brought to light with half truths and outright lies via people being paid to deliver a failing company’s propaganda (insider term).

So are you going to drop that whole “I don’t care about companies just the talent” Boom-like facade you’ve been tapping about or do I need to continue to own your arse like Vince owns Tiny Tony

Jesus Christ.

Buff wasn't the one performing the favors. He was on the receiving end.

Bert Prentice was a pedophile pos. When I was 15 I used to read wrestling magazines quite a bit and one of them featured a pen pal section. I sent in my photo, address, age, etc. and it was published.... I was a good-looking kid and received quite a few responses, including one from Prentice (who was going by the name Christopher Love at the time) telling me how he could get me into the business, etc. and if I would send him some photos with no shirt working out. Even as a 15-year kid the warning flags were bright red. Didn't surprise me one bit when I later heard all the stories about him.

This series has jumped the shark. Never heard of this guy. They should stick to the star wrestlers.
