By all accounts, extremely nice guy as far as pro wrestlers go.

I still have no fricking clue how those dudes in 90s WCW wrestled in f-ing Cowboy Boots.
You couldn't pick a more uncomfortable or inflexible footwear attire to be running and slamming around 250-300lb dudes on concrete and plyboard.
Those things are like running on slanted cinder blocks.

Yes he basically ruined his brain with that overdose in Japan and had a stroke. Was never the same and people said he was almost like a child mentally. They tried to give him a lst shot as the executioner but he was barely functional and it lasted a very short couple of weeks. Sad.

Just finished the Earthquake one. Seemed like a really good family man. That was a particularly sad ending. Damn.

His tag partner, Tugboat / Typhoon / Shockmaster is generally seen as the same, though a punch line because of that last one.
He is also a Rhodes family member, as Cody Rhodes apparently yelled “Hey it’s Uncle Fred!” when he tripped during the Shockmaster into and his spray painted stormtrooper helmet fell off.

That is a cultural thing in Japan because tattoos mean Yakuza over there.
His upward movement would have been limited anyway because you didn’t have a non-native reach Yokozuna rank until the late 90s IIRC.
