there are wayyy fewer moving parts to have to worry about for one

If you count trainers, camera crews, officials, ring girls, and fighters, you could probably do an entire event with the amount of people it would take to field one NFL team

plus the events are spaced out so there's ample time to quarantine and test

plus they all take place at the same venue so there's less travel risks

I mean, how would it not be easier than football or baseball?

There are about 300 production people employed by the UFC. And they employ over 600 fighters. Quarantine fight island bubble, international travel restrictions, strict testing protocols. There's 12 dudes on a basketball team, 53 on a football team.

Wait, why don't we count the entire league and production crews for these sports like you did for UFC?

Dana answer to no live audience was to just flood the market with ppv and TV events to make up for the lost gates.

It was a simple yet genius move and actually ended up growing the sport more than anything else in recent memory.

It also exposed the depth of their cards and stars. Even without McGregor or Rousey type of star, he still exploded the growth of his audience. I watch Ufc more now than any other sport now and over the past year and its not even close.

Yup. Always been a fan but when there was nothing else to watch I was watching more fights than I ever had before. Introduced to more guys than before.

I'd like to say genius move by white but shite, it's more common sense and the balls to do it.

One team is responsible for only their own team. Networks are responsible for production. Everyone in the UFC falls under Dana's responsibility.

Your logic is stupid. For an NFL game, there are over 100 players, 30 or so coaches, hundreds of support staff and hundreds of additional camera crew, lighting operators, stadium employees, etc.

It doesn't matter who falls under what company's responsibility. Do you think if NBC orders their cameraman to show up to a game and he says no because he's concerned about covid, he gets to keep his job? No, they're going to give it to someone else.

It takes far less people to put on a UFC fight than it does an NFL or NBA game, guaranteed.

Journalism is a name from a bygone era. They are now news makers, not news reporters.

a person working an event is still a person working an event....regardless of who employs them.

Your logic has more holes in it than swiss cheese.

6 decades of "teaching" to "change the world" rather than "report facts" gets you there

I wont even pretend to be a UFC fan. Im not. I dont have anything against it, It is just not something that I want to watch

But, we need more people running businesses like Dana. He is absolutely right on everything he stated.

The entire american media is playing everyone. Wake up

The UFC folks on Fight Island were safer there where there was constant testing and precautions than they would be if UFC was shut down and everybody was home like the general public. Same goes for all these peo and college athletes that are constantly getting tested and have access to health resources. They have it better off than the general public.
