He makes the playoffs every year. last year meh his teammates really let him down. Dame got trapped and opened up wide open shots for his mates who proceeded to miss a lot more than they made.

I know I’ll get downvoted cause I’m pretty sure every fan base hates AD at this point and thinks he’s a bitch, even Lakers fans considering how much noise this made. Most might find the aftermath funny though.

But you can’t make excuses for Dame man. He got shut down. If you’d made this Dame before AD opinion last year at this time, you’d have been laughed off the board.

I will totally eat crow if he’s able to get past Denver and put up a competitive effort against Houston/GSW winner (I still think Houston has a great shot this year to beat them). I hope I’m wrong actually. That means I’d probably be watching a ton of games where Dame is big dicking everyone and going off for them to make it that far. Just calling a spade a spade.

Idk how you can watch Dame last year and think he was 100% right though. His brother was shot the week before the series on top of also having his first child. Then the whole Pels gameplan was to get the ball out of Lillard’s hands. It’s not that hard to see why Dame struggled.

Also, Pels fans seem to be just as salty over dame’s success this year as OKC fans just enjoy the moment. He just dropped a 50 burger walk off 3 against statistically a top 5 maybe 3 defense in the league.

You gotta be able to dig deeper. If dame was getting shot down by one guy you would have a point. When a whole team was geared up to stop dame and dames teammates didn’t do their part, that’s a little different.

It is akin to the thunder heat finals when the heat geared up to stop harden and said we gonna make everyone else beat us. Yes harden and dames team lost, but it was more bc the teammates were poor bc the opposition focus on stopping ONE guy. when that happens the failures fall more on the teammates.

Not me. I'm happy for the guy. And glad I stayed up to watch it.

Maybe I haven’t crawled through every thread like you, but I haven’t seen anyone salty over it, including the OKC fans.

Shae I had been saying give me dame. And I had faced a lot of resistance. We knew dame had it when others didn’t see it. I can see more than just the box score. Anybody can pull up the numbers and say give me Davis every day. You gotta really have a feel for these kinda things to say Lillard is the guy who is gonna lead his team on deep runs. Davis will falter bc he lacks the dog. It’s obvious to everybody now. but only a few could see it before it was obvious to the masses.

I’m not salty at all. I will always find it hard to root against undersized pro athletes. I’d much rather lose to someone like Dame than Harden.

Brah I’m not salty at all. That shot was pure magic and I’ve been texting people all day what a badass Dame is. I even said I think earlier In this thread (pretty sure this one page 2 or so ode) to soak it in and stay up as long as you can cause it’s one of those 2-3 moments that every sports fan hopes to see live, and I’m jealous and would have loved to be there. It was that wild. It’s not like he took some wild out of control shot. The thing was on the wrong side of “Moda” about 7 feet from the half court line. (Considering the court is 94 feet long and the basket only sticks out so much, I would not be shocked if it was a foot or two longer than 37 feet.) and he WANTED that shot. It is honestly one of the ballsiest game winners I’ve ever seen. The feeling too of advancing and knocking the Thunder out on a 37 footer from your superstar had to have been insane. That’s about as adrenaline filled as it gets.

Gotta tell this story. When everyone in the NBA was teaming up or trying to strategize last summer @Dame_Lillard told me this, “I don’t want to join them, I want to beat them”. Calm as ever when he said it but I got chills and said, “realest sh!t I ever heard”!

That’s what it is all about isn’t it
That mamba mentality

Hope we see a shift back to players like Dame, Harden, Russ, etc. who embrace their teams and cities.

And get away from the LBJ & KD switcharoo BS.

Yep lebron is great but what a letdown it was when he went to Miami. Guys who are less talented than him but have that competitiveness and that dog in them to want to beat the best and Not make a super team. That’s what competition is all about. And lebron didn’t/doesn’t get it. Disappointing.

I hope Greek Freak rides it out in Milwaukee if they continue to do a good job putting a team around him.

Also Oladipo in Indy.

This is good for the NBA. Just need KD the Beta to relocate this offseason and parity will be at a near all time high in the NBA.

What are your thoughts on OKC going forward? I gotta say, prior to matching up with you guys, I was rooting for y’all to win it in the West. After all the trash talk Russ has done all year though and then this series, I’ve kinda soured on the OKC players.

I made a post on Pels talk that imo you guys should keep the same core and run it back. Portland was in the same situation last year and everyone was saying “fire everyone” and trade away the core. Which was a bad take from those pundits. Now, Stotts imo is a top 5 coach and Billy boy is not so I’d fire the coach in your shoes. You guys could use some shooters. If Seth Curry doesn’t come back to Portland (likely) he’d make a nice addition to you guys. Adams is kinda a big issue. “Can’t play Kanter” is now “can’t play Adams” I know Billy didn’t say that but we’re all thinking it. Imo your kinda stuck with him for better or worse.

Adams was not good. I feel like he is overrated at this point bc people like foreign accents and the way he looks

I was listening to a podcast the other day and they were saying that’s the move you gotta make. Move Adams. If he is not even gonna be closing games for you....

Zach Lowe just dropped a podcast today that’s worth a listen. In it he basically said Adams is un-tradable. He’s due like 25M next year and 27M the year after. The easiest PnR matchup in the playoffs was Kanter and he couldn’t even expose that. Nobody else in the league is saying “we could really use Adams if we want to make the next step.”

He’s good for the regular season and for battling other bigs 1 on 1. But a high PnR against Lillard? Harden? Curry? Forget about it.

Lillard showed a social-media clip of him telling Westbrook, “Stop running from this arse whoopin’,” as Lillard grew weary of Westbrook switching off him, while Lillard continued to be Westbrook’s primary defender. And what came out of Westbrook’s mouth during a few of his post-basket outbursts was the B-word, something most players wouldn’t dismiss without an altercation. “The way I see it, it’s basketball,” Lillard told Yahoo Sports. “I know I ain’t no b-----arse mother------; so it doesn’t bother me. “I’m not out here to prove to these dudes that I’m the hardest mother------ in the league because they cussed at me on the court. But they know where I’m from and what I’m about. This Oakland. But I don’t take s--- personal. My goal is to get the win.”

What's up with all the radioheads saying Dame's shot was like some all time great playoff buzzer beater??

It was a great shot but I mean let's be real. They were up in the series 3-1 and the game was tied. If he misses and they go to overtime. Can still win. If they lose the game. Still heavy favorite to close out 1 of the next 2 games.

Also he just dribbled up there court and chilled for 6 seconds and chunked up the shot. Wasn't any pressure on him or some last second heave.

Was a great shot, don't get me wrong. But will be something very forgettable in the next couple of years unlike other buzzer beaters\performances weve seen in the playoffs in recent history.
