Over the years I've heard / read many medical professionals speculate on what Kenny Schrader saw when he lowered Dale's net. It's horrifying.
The look on Schrader's face told me what the real deal was.

Man that pretty tough to look at. Can’t imagine what Schrader saw when he opened the window net.
All the blood splatter freaks me out thinking about my own wreck. I passed out behind the wheel one day and hit a tree head on at ~60 mph. My hit was a direct hit on the passenger side in an F-150. It was so bad that it shoved the motor into the cab and it took a tractor to break it away from the tree.
I wasn’t wearing a seatbelt, cratered the windshield with my head, folded the steering wheel over with some part of my body, and snapped my femur in half. The blood from my head pretty was splattered throughout the truck.
Think about all of that and Dale hit and had a seatbelt failure at almost 3 times my speed.

I knew Simpson was getting threats but did not know or remember shots fired at his house. Trying to clear his company's reputation which up to that point, was undeniably a leader in the industry had to put a huge toll on him physically and emotionally.
Thanks for the response.

Bill Simpson did more for saftey in motorsports than anyone. Him being made the scapegoat for Earnhardt's death was terrible.

Twildcat-
Donald Trump at ? 33 minutes
Wreck occurs at 58 minutes. Not in footage though.

We should be able to see the autopsy photos. They are public record. Our tax dollars were spent to do the autopsy and we should see the photos.
No!
They are of no benefit to public safety.
The accident report is of benefit.

Totally agree.

And I love Dale, you didn't have to be fan of Nascar to know who or how great he was.
Bottom line, he died doing what he loved, all of us would love that option.

Open and accountable government agencies are vital for democracy. This is not a matter of national security or human life
I totally disagree.
First, I don’t feel that autopsy photos are really necessary for “accountable government.” The autopsy report is out there and details everything one needs to know about the medical examiner’s findings.
Second, and this isn’t easy to say: Dale died a violent death. Though Ken Schrader nor the first responders will ever say what they saw in that car, I believe it was extremely disturbing. With that type of skull fracture, coupled with the photos that are out there of the inside of the car, Dale was likely bleeding (as well as potentially losing other body fluids) from his nose, mouth, ears, and possibly even his eyes. It’s just not something anyone should want to see, even if we have curiosity.
Finally, whatever important information could be derived from those photos was provided to those who needed the information to conduct their investigations and to improve safety.

I wasn’t an Earnhardt fan, but man NASCAR isn’t the same without him. It seems as NASCAR died after Earnhardt’s death.

Did it really take a report to say he had a skull fracture due to a wreck?

I was watching i wasnt very worrry about the crash wasnt the cause of death his body coming to a complete stop but his brain kept moving?

It takes a report to explain exactly how that fracture occurred. That information was then used to improve safety. The initial autopsy report stated that he died of a skull fracture, so simply determining the cause of death wasn’t the point of the report.

19 years later, I still don't care.

Ironic.

Yeah, during a really sharp weather change, if I stand just right, and if I’m on my feet way more than normal... It’s not too bad overall. Definitely better than it could have been. The 6 inch scar in my hair part itches sometimes also.

If you really think about it after watch that. Steve Parks, Earnhardt, others. Wow, no wonder these guys are opting out.
