Laughing about what? They finished #2 in the country that season. They should've played Miami in the Rose Bowl.

but he did well with recruiting at Oregon with the NIKE machine behind him

Considering he was building a strong program that's not very good with all that power, swag, gear, and money behind him imo.

Eta....you said he could recruit whomever he wanted and that simply wasn't true.

Wait, do you think Chip purposely recruited 3 star prospects out of Cali and Texas over 5 star prospects?

In Philly he had a winning record. I wouldn’t say he “failed”.

Y u dum?

Chip so hyped up? I mean, he has never won anything of account and basically failed at everything other than a few decent wins at Oregon.

I know you're trolling, but he was 46-7 (33-3) in four seasons with 3 conference championships and an NC appearance.

I love how Auburn fans continually talk down Kelly and Oregon.

You won the Natty with supposedly the greatest college player ever (from your fans) by a FG against Oregon.

But yeah, Chip sucks.

Whipped the team - Colorado - that whipped the Nebraska team in the Big12 title game.

I think Colorado was #4 and people were arguing they should have gotten into the National Title game.

Oregon destroyed them in the Fiesta Bowl.

Oregon was maybe the worst program in the Nation forever.

If not for Oregon State.

And maybe Rutgers.

But Rich Brooks brought them to winning 5 games a year - which was huge...and then the 1994 Rose Bowl...Bellotti carried that to new heights...winning 6-7 games a year and an almost Natty appearance but a Fiesta appearance.

Kelly - Oregon was a national title contender every year he was there. Maybe it didn't work out but his teams were contenders.

Oregon's rise was a LONG process from Brooks to Bellotti - but it was Chip who took them from respectable to supersonic.
