Joshy won a lot of games last year while throwing for something like 122-145 yards. I’ve got a feeling Jayden ascends as well. The improvements Josh makes are going to be more marginal as he’s a vet. Ranking him at 4 was not meant to be an insult. That’s just what the film told me.

MVP race is different than film. MVP race includes team success and narratives. Spade a spade. Technically Jayden should have won MVP last year, but that is not the way those award races work. It’s more of a career achievement and team award than who is actually most valuable to their team success. Getting to the NFC Ship in year 1 due to being Uber clutch despite playing for a perennial dumpsterfire, is probably one of the most impressive things a QB has done in the history of the league, let alone, last season.

you can't make a list of ten qbs with Brock Purdy and Bryce young over Mahomes and hurts and expect to be taken seriously. mahomes still leads his team to the super bowl every year even if stats dipped last year.

I will agree that burrow is probably playing better than anyone else on a game to game basis but jayden can't be 3 and young can't be as high as you had him.

also Staffords not that same player he was, if this list is based only on film this past season then staffords not in it

I’m also talking current rankings in 2025. If I was ranking back in 2019, Mahomes might have been number 1. He has not been close to that guy in a long, long time though. The film is objective and doesn’t care who you were 5-6 years ago.

Oh boy, Mahomes got hit more than any other QB last year and his best WR for almost the entire season was a rookie. He hasn't had a good WR core the last 3 years but went to 3 straight SB's. Hell in 2022 the Chiefs led the league in points per game (29.2) and total yards per game (414). They also ranked first in several key offensive categories, including touchdowns, passing yards, and first downs with Juju as the #1 WR. 2022 he won league MVP so you're 5-6 years ago like all your takes is garbage.

Joe Burrow: plays behind porous O Line

When are we going to stop with this fiction?

Not quite the athlete of Lamar, but close and is ahead of schedule in terms of making reads and throwing the football

Just curious, how do you know this? What did you use to arrive at this conclusion?

This isn’t a list for casuals.

All you did was throw out cliche after cliche without any sort of numbers or data to back it up

Burrow’s been in the league 6 years and I don’t believe his O Line has ranked above 26th in pass blocking, 1 time according to PFF. And most years they are in between 30-32.

Even when Mahomes has a bad O Line (I think they still ranked around 6th or 7th in pass blocking last year).

The blocking argument is a fair one. We all see what happens in Games that Mahomes actually gets poor blocking in. He can’t do much of anything.

Young Jayden is 100% ahead of young Lamar in passing accuracy and making reads. He’s arguably ahead of prime Lamar in both of those areas as well. Lamar basically could not make a read or throw a ball accurately for 3 seasons. He’s simply a different athlete and that’s why his game was able to still work in year 2 or 3. He wasn’t even trusted to play much in year 1, unlike Jayden. Lamar is amazing. However Jayden is ahead of Lamar’s development if comparing them as young QB’s.

Bro, this was a film review, not a statistical analysis review. I’m not going to list a bunch of numbers that anyone can google. This is about grading a QB’s performance from play to play regardless of teammate performance on that particular play.

As a side quest this offseason, I studied every starting QB in the nfl last season. This process was exhaustive and took a full 80 hours during 2 of my lighter work weeks. I feel like the end result is worth sharing and contemplating as the 2025-2026 NFL season is right around the corner.

1) Joe Burrow: High IQ, historically accurate, arm strength underrated, pocket movement underrated, plays behind porous O Line and it largely does not matter.

2) Lamar Jackson. Generational athlete. Throwing ability has improved greatly over the past few years.

3) Jayden Daniels. Not quite the athlete of Lamar, but close and is ahead of schedule in terms of making reads and throwing the football. Also has clutch gene factor.

4) Josh Allen. Somewhat of a 1 man army. However, Buffalo does seem to do better when they lean heavily on the run game instead of letting Josh cook in 4/5 wide sets. A Plus runner. A Plus arm strength. Accuracy comes and goes. Ultimate Gamer.

5) Baker Mayfield. Basically a smaller version of Josh Allen that runs less and passes more. Competitive spirit is at an all time high.

6) Justin Herbert. When he’s at his best, he’s top 3. Height, arm strength, clutch 4th down throws. But he definitely inexplicably runs hot and cold at times. Still a great talent and leader.

7) Matthew Stafford. Still a great arm. Great vet moxie. Clutch. Older QB that can’t move as much, but IQ and competitive spirit keeps him in the rankings.

8) Bryce Young. Do yourself and watch the last 8 games of Bryce Young’s tape. It looked like he was back at Alabama again, but also with a little bit of added accuracy. A Plus human. The confidence is back. The pocket movement is back. Watch out.

9) Jared Goff. Great system QB for 2 different teams. Underrated overall. Arm is top tier. Gets a little panicky at times.

10) Brock Purdy. Reminds me a little bit of a modern Steve Young. Hard not to like. Stature causes him to not see things clearly and make poor decisions at times, but he’s very good overall

Bounce back candidate: Dak Prescott. He hasn’t been as elusive since a gruesome ankle injury. He also seemed to take a step back last season. Before that, he was an A Plus regular season QB that just makes a few confounding decisions in the playoffs. Adding Pickett to Ceedee could do wonders for Prescott and Dallas’s offense. Prescott elevated his performance in the 2nd half of his college career. Can he do it again?

No Mahomes, and these two comments.

Mahomes was drafted into a historically easy situation with a hall of fame coach in place and a roster that just went 10-6 or 11-5. Then he sat behind Alex Smith and watched him go 10-6 or 11-5. He then got to play with prime Tyreek and Kelce for years. He has also consistently had 2-4 pro bowl and/or all pro o lineman on the team every year. He also has had Chris Jones holding down the fort on defense every year.

This is before you get to the historical officiating advantages and luck he has been getting the past several years.

Mahomes hasn’t led the team to 3 straight Super Bowls. He simply plays on a super team, with a super coach, with a super amount of luck in terms of injuries and officiating. Despite not having a true number 1 WR at times. He did have a very good Kelce at the time you mentioned Juju being your number 1 WR. Even last year, he had a ton of weapons. He don’t have a true number 1 after Lambo Rice went down, but he had a ton of NFL caliber guys to throw to, while sitting behind a top 10 line, and having HOF coach Andy Reid scheme up typically wide open players.

Mahomes, objectively, was the 14th best QB last year. And he knows it. So, we will see if this is the beginning of the end, or if he takes it personally and improves his body, game prep, and accuracy. If he doesn’t, it will be more of the same and he will have to rely on his all star cast to continue to keep him in games where he consistently does not play his best.

Oh boy you're even dumber than I thought. I doubt anyone would call it lucky that his starting RT and LT got season ending injuries right before the SB against the Bucs. This last year Hollywood Brown got injured on the very first play of preseason game #1 and was gone the whole year until game 16. Rashee Rice was injured in game 4 and never came back the whole year. RB Isiah Pacheco fractured his fibula and was out Weeks 3-12 and even when he came back wasn't right. Chiefs had to sign Kareem Hunt off the street and he played well but had no speed. So you're wrong again he didn't have a ton of weapons. All teams have injuries so that's part of it but you're wrong acting like they haven't had their share. I wonder if you'll triple down on your stupidity.
