Pittsburgh Pirates starter Harvey Haddix retiring the first 36 Milwaukee Braves batters he faced, and then losing in the bottom of the 13th inning
one of my favorite trivia questions is about this game
Q: Felix Mantilla reached base on an error to lead off the bottom of the 13th, Hank Aaron was intentionally walked, then Joe Adcock hit the ball over the right-center field fence, ending the game - what was the final score?
A: 1-0
Mantilla scored the winning run on Adcock’s apparent homer, but Aaron mistakenly thought the ball had bounced off the fence and, assuming correctly that the game was over, trotted off the field before touching home plate
Adcock rounded the bases, but was later declared out for passing Aaron, who was also called out for leaving the basepath
only Mantilla’s run counted officially

Babe Ruth threw a no hitter without throwing a strike.
Ruth vs Washington walked the first batter of the game on 4 pitches. Argued and punched a home plate umpire and was ejected.
Ernie Shore came in relief picked off the runner, then retired the next 26 batters in a row.
It was MLB first combined no hitter. Shore was not credited with a perfect game.

To make the story even weirder, Aaron didn’t score a run.
All time runs scored-
Ruth 2174 Aaron 2174
At the time tied for 2nd behind Cobb. Pre-Rickey

Aaron lost a HR when ex-teammate Bob Eucker noticed Hank had stepped outside the batter's box.
Eucker pointed it out to the ump, who called Aaron out.
There's your run.

no Aaron ran into the dugout when the winning run scored
Adcock ran the bases but was called out because he reached home before Aaron who was in the dugout
there's your 1-0

Auburn was penalized in pregame warmups for stomping on the Eye of the Tiger in 2001. Never seen a team penalized during warmups before or since.
Then LSU led the game off with an onside kick and recovered it since they kicked off from the 50 with the penalty. That game had all kinds of unique things. It had been pushed back from September to December due to 9/11. Ended up being the SEC Championship Game. And then LSU's band got into a shoving match with Auburn's kicker when he came out and started walking through their formations during their halftime show. Those Auburn games were the best.
