Um

Look at Trubisky 2017 vs. 2018. I figure without the latest offensive ingenuity he would go the way of the many other first round flops.

Taking 'unguardable' concepts from college offenses, Bears join the NFL's offensive evolution

quote:

Chase Daniel was a prototypical spread quarterback during his college days at Mizzou, expertly operating a fast-paced offense that racked up over 1,100 points in 2007 and 2008. At 6 feet tall, he was undersized for the NFL, but not for a college scheme that split receivers and tight ends all over the field and operated exclusively out of the shotgun.

quote:

Daniel’s savviness and talent fit the offense perfectly, and he earned a trip to New York as a Heisman Trophy finalist as a result. But the prevailing thought when Daniel finished his college career in 2008 was that the kind of offense he — and plenty others — ran in college wasn’t remotely transferrable to the NFL.

quote:

Fast-forward a decade later, and the spread hasn’t taken over the NFL, but some aspects of it have become part of a new wave of offensive ingenuity. Matt Nagy’s offense draws from it, with plenty of read-pass option plays and other concepts that were considered unworkable in the NFL 10 years ago.

quote:

“Man, when I came out of college, in ’09, everyone was like ‘spread offense, that’ll never work in the NFL,’” Daniel said. “It was just starting to maybe make its way in with Alex Smith out in (San Francisco). Now it’s just, it seems like everyone’s got an athletic quarterback that can zone read this, zone read that, RPOs. You saw in Philadelphia, they were this offense, they morphed into their own, a lot of RPOs, a lot of what Nick Foles felt comfortable with. And it’s hard to defend the entire field as a defensive coordinator.”

quote:

Of course, an NFL offense that incorporates spread concepts needs its quarterback to be able to handle far more responsibilities than put on college signal-callers. Nagy’s offense is quarterback-driven, and while he’s tailoring it to Mitch Trubisky — who ran a version of the spread offense at North Carolina — there’s still plenty of responsibility put on the former No. 2 overall pick. And the process the Bears are in to teach it to Trubisky is, and will be, lengthy.

Peyton Manning is considered a great and never won shite until he had the best defense in the league and rode their coattails from 6 yards behind center

Just because I’m curious, accuweather says the temperature range for Arlington, Texas on November 29 was 53-79

This has to be the worst of worst takes in the MSB history of worst takes.

The spread is gimmicky?

Like the Patriots?

Disnt thr Saints skull Buffalo on the road last year and Cincy this year?

Good defenses matched both the Saints and Rams. Kudos. It is football. You dont win them all.

Did you honestly think you were the first person to think good offenses struggle in bad environments?

Like did you just miss Peyton Manning’s entire postseason career?

Drew Brees once won a super game outdoors.

Interesting take...but not sure if serious.

Against another dome, system QB in Peyton Manning.

It’s sad that forward thinking minds are cast away as idiots for being ahead of the times.

Someone will bump this thread when Brees, Goff or Mahomes get rocked by a real team in the postseason that doesn’t shy away from contact on the field, rely on 5 yard stops or the refs calling illegal contact every other play.

You do understand that Drew has had bad games in domes before and has had good games outside in the elements right?

Yeah, the "point" here relies on some of the most terrible cherry picking imaginable.

My point was that he’s very much the prototype QB size

That's fair but I think his success has largely been a product of more spread concepts being used which I think was also a big reason for Carson Wentz having a big jump from year 1 to year 2. Obviously there's still a minimum to be met in terms of physical attributes, but it doesnt have to be as strict anymore. Maybe there wont be so many failed QBs as there once was as the game continues to implement more spread.

I straight up caught a Birmingham radio show stealing their topics from the rant. Called them out. I am 80% positive they post on there.
