Adam, the legal drinking age has nothing to do with it. When I was in HS, the drinking age was 18 in Louisiana. We were just as irresponsible in high school as kids are now (with easier access to alcohol from 18 y/o seniors).

I didn't say it did. I was just mentioning that the U.S. has the highest drinking age in any place i know of.

I went on my first spring break when I was 16.....it really isn't that big of a deal. Kids from all over the country travel long distances..it's part of spring break. Esp. him being a senior...did none of you go far away for your senior trip?
He could have died off any hotel balcony...in his home town or far away...does it make it better if it happened in his home town? the result is still the same

Who finances all these spring break trips for high schoolers these days? Do most kids have jobs, or do parents just give them $500 and tell them to be careful? The most I could afford was a trip to Toledo Bend at a friend's parents camp (where granted, we got shitfaced and did some stupid shite, because that's what 17 year olds do).

Senior trips are unheard of in some parts of the country.

if you are still in high school and going that far i think there should be a parent or two to chaperone. they dont have to stay in the same room, just check in on them every once in a while to make sure they arent dead.

ok other than North America. I'm sorry i'm not familiar with Canadian law prick.
You should know that Canada and the United States are what makes up "North America". So, fail once again.
My son is 16. There's no way I'd let him go to Florida for Spring Break when he's 17 or even as an 18 year old senior in high school. My daughter is almost 21 and I worry every time she goes on a road trip with friends. That's me though. Some parents are more lax with their kids.

Actually, for him, there probably wouldn't have been.
