that, and the thread had a couple of posters shouting us down because we didn't think his head hit the ground

I wasn't a concussion denier, just a "look at what is happening on the screen" purist

Andy Reid calls the plays, and I agree. No need for designed runs with Mahomes.

You don't watch the NFL much in 2020 do you? Offensive coordinators that do this will also be eliminating their employment. The era of statues standing in the pocket in the NFL is ending. In less than five years every offensive playbook in the NFL is going to have an entire chapter of RPOs in it. Every quarterback is going to need at least something close to average mobility. Teams copy what works and the two offenses that work best--Kansas City and Buffalo both use a heavy dose of either RPOs or designed QB runs. More teams will jump on the bandwagon when Brady, Rivers, Roethlisberger, and Rodgers retire.

Weird injury for sure

I just don’t see how people get paid millions to sit in a booth and state his head bounced off the turf when his head never touched the ground.

Your 400 million dollar QB is limping, should you:

A) let him throw the ball, something he does better than any player I've ever seen

B) call a designed run for him

Nobody is arguing Mahomes shouldn't be mobile, but the playcall was bad and it could have cost them a super bowl.

I honestly think this makes it less likely he plays. With a concussion you know what you are dealing with. This seems scarier to me. I still think he plays though

Did anyone watch the way he ran--not jogged, not walked, not slowly walked into the locker room to get checked out? He was running just fine with no stumbling, no catching his balance, no visible strain or awkwardness about five minutes after coming off the field. If he is dealing with anything serious be it concussion or nerve he is not doing that. I get why he was held out for the rest of the game and I will bet he does little to no practicing just out of an ultra, ultra, ultra abundance of caution but I would bet the only issue he will have to deal with Sunday will be his toe.

I can’t believe they called that shite when he was already limping

And this is after he got hurt on a sneak last year! Unreal

And you're up 9 and have a million weapons who can get you a foot or 2.

If it was the play of the game, do or die time, I get it. But in that spot, it was just a bad call.

Maybe I'm overreacting but this sounds worse than a concussion in the short-term. That's awesome if there are no lingering effects, nerve issues are nothing to play with.

Payton Manning had neck issues......he never fully recovered, still won another Super Bowl with a lights out Broncos Defense.

Maybe he didn’t have a concussion but people saying “dat dere boy’s head never hit da ground (spits in dip cup)” like that matters. You can be concussed without hitting your head on the ground.

Fact. Got popped in the pads on a kick return and probably looked like a wounded deer while I was running with the lights off for a split second.

I thought they spun my eyes into the back of my head.

Meh. It's a pretty easy call to make, because most don't see it coming. And he'll be running again on key spots. Up 9 isn't this safe lead you're making it out to be.

You really think that this guy is not gonna run to extend a play????? I’m not talking about a designed run but more about improvising.... he’s not the type to just give up and throw it out of bounds.. that’s not his game... do some homework...IMO his foot may be a bigger problem than his neck....

It probably was a stinger. Similar to Colt McCoys injury in the national championship game. And yes, in the short term it can cause numbness and weakness, makiing it worse than a concussion.

A stinger is "acute brachial plexus neuropraxia" and can be caused by by a direct blow or torsion on the brachial plexus.

Good news hopefully. You hate to see a player of his caliber and a great team go down due to a freak playoff injury

Probably affected his vagus nerve, too, which is in the area. And that will definitely make you feel "woozy".
