That free kick had some eerie C Ronaldo dip to it.

Good thread, guys, thanks for the news.
Nice to see Kenny Cooper get a cap and score. Wonder if anyone will come calling in January and if MLS would let him go?

Rosenburg in Norway. Book it.

Nice match from the boys. Jozy is unreal. Him and Cooper combine well. Adu/Sacha played well too. Thorrington had nice overlapping runs. It's so clear Cooper and Jozy are our two best strikers that it's overwhelming.

he's already been in the ManU system for a while before he came home to play for FC dallas. He went over there right after high school and apparently he likes it in Dallas. I'm sure he'll give it another shot ever there but not so soon i don't think.

Agreed...too bad Bradley won't ever play them unless it's mop up duty or a game like this where no one is playing.

if we can pair up cooper and jozy the next 5-10 years, with adu making runs on the outside, we may finally have found an offense

Interesting... does he want to return to Germany?

ETA: Apparently he does. Good for him, I hope he does well.

I think he was young and a little immature his first go around. Hopefully this will put him in some bigger situations so when the national stage comes around he'll adjust and finally show up...

Interesting to see Cooper play last night. Some of the scuttle butt surrounding his absence from the national team, despite his success, was that he played his game only, and not within the frame work of the team.

Watching him play last night, while he did well, you could definitely see that.

Sort of like a less talented Ibrahimovic.

I see he and Jozy as very, very similar players, and if we had a qualifier tomorrow, I would pair one of the two with Ching, a true target forward.

Bob Bradley's biggest challenge is finding space on the field for LD, Deuce, Adu, Jozy, et al, and putting them in the right places.

If we keep everyone healthy, I think we rattle some cages in Confederations Cup '09.

Not trying to discredit you, but Brian Ching is one of the worst forwards in US Soccer history...

Yeah, he lost me right there. Ching is awful. I think we had better strikers on the 1990 team.

I think Altidore and Cooper looked like they worked pretty well together. The first goal was a nice cross from Jozy right to Cooper's foot. I like having them as the strikers, which allows Bradley to move LD back to the mid.

Ching just has a very, very specific goal, and I think he's good at it.

It's very difficult to play "pretty", when your only job is to post up and flick the ball into space.

Every other forward we have needs someone to play off of, and that's why I think Ching is a big part of the picture.

I see your point and you're right that's probably why he's on the field or even on the team. But man he's just not as skillful as a lot of the others, imo.

Look, I’m the grand champion of “pretty is overrated”. Reyna was pretty but ineffective for the USNT. Give me Pablo every single day. Jan Koller never got credit for being the player he was because he was a lumbering ogre. But he was a lumbering ogre who scored a ton of goals. Gooch is probably my favorite player on the team, and he’s pretty much the definition of “not pretty” (though Bradley is now a close second – that guy has a tremendous work rate).

My problem with Ching is not that he doesn’t play The Beautiful Game or some such nonsense. My problem with him is that he has no instinct for the goal. McBride wasn’t graceful, but he could score. In a striker, all I care about is scoring goals. Ching doesn’t score. Right now, Cooper has shown he can score. Ching’s real problem is that he never simply one-touches the ball in the box. He always settles, then shoots. At the international level, you can’t do that. The defense closes and the goalie has time to react. Just redirect the damn ball.
