So now that Indiana has moved into stage 5 and sports can resume, does that mean the Colts will have a full stadium? What about Notre Dame?

If both of those are able to have a full stadium as the governor is allowing, that could be huge for both. Biggest home field advantage in the history of sports IMO just due to circumstances.

quote:

Indiana Gov. Eric Holcomb announced that Indiana will move to Stage 5, the final phase of reopening, on Saturday. The stage had originally been scheduled to begin July 4, but was pushed back and Stage 4.5 was created.

Holcomb cited steadily improving coronavirus case numbers for the move.

Masks will still be required.

Previously announced plans for Stage 5 included these rules:

Retail stores and malls: May operate at full capacity
Restaurants, bars, and nightclubs: May operate at full capacity
Personal services: May open at full capacity
Gyms and fitness facilities: No restrictions
Large events: Conventions, sports events, fairs, festivals, the state fair and similar events may resume.
Amusement parks, water parks: Restrictions are lifted. Social distancing guidelines should be maintained.
Most vulnerable population: Hoosiers 65 and over and those with high-risk health conditions should follow social distancing guidelines and remain cautious.

Just because a state opens up doesn't mean local jurisdictions will follow. Typically this is just true for the counties (all but the largest that have their own health departments) where the state health department is their health department.

So Marion County/City of Indianapolis may very well choose to keep 5K in the stands.

Yep. Mayors are Democrats so full stadiums ain't likely.

Also, Indiana is a rural state. Most of it outside of Indianapolis isn't remotely urban.

The local county/city should be better to know itself better than the state of mostly rural counties.

Well Notre Dame was the only school to start the season that had a pretty fair amount of fans in the stands and none of that piped in noise against Duke.

I have a buddy that is very Irish and a die hard Notre Dame fan/alum.

He is very anti-Trump and pretty damn liberal and so are all of his Golden Domer buddies that circle jerk to that school.

ETA:

We had them over for a BBQ a couple weeks back and the other 10-12 people had no problem coming inside and cooling off/watching some football on TV. He stayed outside, with a mask on.

I just laughed, to each his own.

I understand people not like trump as a person, but if you are even somewhat successful, dont really understand not supporting most, not all, of his policies.

but the state is doing really well. I would be surprised if both jump directly back into the full stadiums, but I would also be surprised, especially with notre dame, if they passed on the money that comes with having more fans. I think ND ramps it up slowly over next few weeks, especially now that the WF game has been postponed. By the time clemson comes to town, they will be full stadium.

Apparently Notre Dame announced delayed Spring semester start today and no Spring Break.

Trying to expand that Winter break to avoid COVID flare up in the Winter maybe? Idk

Doubtful they have more fans in the stands.

Why are you just going to ignore University of Indiana and Purdue?

Didn’t Notre Dame cancel their game this week because of 4 positive Covid tests?

The Masked Covidians have got to go, enough with this ridiculous bullshite. Wear the diaper on your face if you like, but don't try to force it upon others.

Did he go to ND?
I work with a few Alums (2) and both of them are the exact opposite
And all of the buddies they went to ND with are the same as well.
Of course they’re all loaded trust fund kids with hedge fund/IB dads so maybe that’s why

More important question, will UI? Imagine sticking it to your conference administrators with full capacity stadiums?
