These players don’t graduate. They take the minimum classes in the easiest shite. They aren’t working toward shite. Much less a major.

I remember reading this in SI many years ago:

quote:

Perhaps former Colorado split end Loy Alexander, the team's leading receiver in 1983, was a prophet when, after the Buffaloes finished 1-10 in '84, he declared that he was fed up with being surrounded by teammates with impeccable character and no talent. "We've got enough altar boys," he said. "We need some athletes."
Five years later, Colorado has plenty of athletes. Altar boys, however, are in short supply

WHAT PRICE GLORY?
UNDER COACH BILL MCCARTNEY, COLORADO FOOTBALL HAS TAKEN OFF, BUT SO HAS UGLY CRIMINAL BEHAVIOR AMONG THE BUFFALO PLAYERS

But there’s reasonable reason to believe that Deion wouldn’t have gone without assurances this would change. It makes no sense if it doesn’t. They’ll just lose him and look
even more incompetent.

Auburn fans can tell you a lot about administrators and boosters promising big changes and then never following through.

Colorado is going to make a good chunk of money the next few years with Deion as their coach. Major turnaround or not. I’m rooting for the guy because I like the story, but I have my doubts he’ll be able to overcome the bureaucracy involved with P5 programs. I envision him getting frustrated, publicly, quickly.

What I find interesting is Deion bragging about his Jackson St players coming in. These players are gonna get blasted in the pac-12. It's different playing Southern rather than Utah and USC

Oh is this the thread where we can call call Deion stupid and talk about what a failure he'll be because he's... hmm.. don't stop me here... this is tough. He's had unusual amounts of success almost everywhere he's been, but naw he sucks. Stupid Deion Sanders. So weird a big portion of TD would think this way about him. Wonder why?

Dude. This has nothing to do with changing your major.

And there are NCAA degree progress requirements as well, so if a junior transfers to Colorado and loses half his hours, he is automatically ineligible.

I don't make the rules. The chancellor himself said in a link IN THIS VERY THREAD that he could not change the rules. They will likely relax some administrative barriers, but wholesale changes could take years.

You can frick right off.

This is the thread where we are discussing Colorado's transfer policy that has been a thorn in the side of coaches for decades.

I'm sure there's another thread somewhere where all the low IQ race-baiters are commiserating about their lot in life. You should join them.

My point was about the JSU players coming and taking starting jobs from P5 scholarship players. The talent level drop-off is big.

If Sanders thinks he's starting OL from JSU can come right in and make an impact against pac 12 teams, he's in for a shock

He's not taking everybody and Colorado has the worst talent in P5. Shaduer and Hunter will be massive upgrades on what's there.

I don't get the impression that anyone on here wants Deion to fail. There is just a lot of hype surrounding him and he hasn't done anything on a significant level to know if he is the real deal, and people are naturally skepticle. It would be the same way if it were Peyton Manning or some other white ex-HOFer.

Maybe he'll be great. He seems to have the right stuff-discipline, recruiting prwoess, charisma, but there are clearly a lot of unknowns if he can translate all of that to p5 success on the field. And the reality is that Colorado has hurdles that other places don't.

What were those hurdles in the 90s?

There was no transfer portal or NIL in the 90s, and Colorado was in the Big 12.

They got busted for scandal after scandal and their admin and fans quit caring about football. Throw in about 5 bad hires in a row and here we are.

And like a lot of programs back then, they were able to run the option/flexbone with great athletes and win.

Are you saying these hurdles are imaginary?

Deion isn't dumb. He played D-1 football at an elite institute. He played in the NFL and is a literal hall of famer. He knows football talent. Apart of what made him so successful is that he was able to pull 3 and 4 star guys to JSU.

Even in his speech to his JSU players, he remarked that he wil speak with the specific few guys who he wants to come. But most of the guys would be better served staying in Jackson.

I think most people would agree that one of Prime's best qualities are his self-promotion, charisma, and energy. I don't think anyone is arguing otherwise. I don't believe he is a fraud or anything, I think that he is serious.

All I'm saying is that winning championships in a power 5 conference takes a lot more than charisma. I'm not saying he won't succeed, I just believe that he's kind of an unknown at this point. And that's ok. Hell, Colorado would likely be happy with 8 or 9 wins a season at this point. I think it's a good hire fwiw.

The reason his team was so good this year is because it wasn’t regular swac players. Look at the roster a TON of his guys were former FBS players.

And I think he will only take a handful of guys. His sons, Travis hunter, and maybe a couple others. I do think it’s a multi year project but I bet he does great with the portal and JUCOs this year .
