The inompetent refs call a foul on the defensive player 90% of the time and the defender did nothing wrong.

The horrible officiating is out of control.

And it apparebtly akes 5 mins to figure out how much time is on the clock after a routine shot and the TV broadcast figured it out in literally 5 seconds.

Calling games properly is a good place to start in terms of rehabilitating basketball

Same in the pros . That's one of the reasons I don't watch basketball anymore.Officiating is biased to the offensive player even when it's obvious the offensive player is initiating contact.

The funniest one of the night was I believe
Arkansas vs Tech, one official called blocking on D and one official called a charge on offense.

So they meet about 3-5 minutes and decided to give both players a foul. Lol

That was Duke/AZ game with the double foul. Dumbest thing I’ve ever seen

Ref called Flagg for a travel then midway through rolling his hands he realized it was Flagg and changed it to a defensive foul.

It does feel like charges have been called less frequently this entire season, but I have no statistics to back that up.

My real concern with officiating at all levels these days is the shortage of capable people actually willing to do the job. It’s a tough gig to do well.

it’s one of the worst parts about basketball and growing the sport in my opinion. i think it’s a double whammy of lack of qualified people wanting to be officials but also the players just being so big strong and fast it just becomes almost impossible to properly call in real time.

what happens is during the regular season casuals aren’t tuning in and players aren’t playing at full speed and intensity, so the missed calls aren’t as big of a focus

in march madness and NBA playoffs casuals all start tuning in, players finally go all out and the games literally come down to single points, the poor officiating becomes glaringly obvious, frustrating, and turns people off on the sport again right away

Agree. It seems like the only thing they look for is an over the top shoulder drop by the offensive player before they'll call a charge.

But as someone who has reffed some, it is a tough job and the refs are almost too close to the action. You can actually see things better sitting a couple of rows up in the bleachers. Many times, you just see arms and are not sure who they belong to.

To those saying a big problem is getting capable officials, this is true, and a lot of it is the good ones often get burned out because if you don't know the right people, you'll never rise up the ranks.

All sports officials are stupid and a waste of money.

Yep. I’ve been a big basketball fan my whole life. But today’s game is nowhere near what I grew up w in the 80s and 90s. I don’t watch the NBA anymore and only watch college mostly in March outside of watching LSU when there on.

I don’t know if lack of defense is because how the fouls are called or just lazy or just an offensive 3 point game now. But it’s hard to watch.

But I can barely watch the No Basketball Association or the WWNFLOL anymore because bad officiating is such an epidemic infecting those sports.

They’ve decided to quit calling traveling in this game as well.

Traveling didn't exist in the Southland Conference Tournament either.
