College baseball has the best rules as far as staying in college.

That’s because their body’s aren’t ready for the NFL yet.

Make it so NBA and G league can take everyone. Also change rules So if you opt to go international out of high school you have to wait two years to play in the NBA. This will keep everyone here, unless that player absolutely needs money and isn’t NBA ready yet

What is weird is he will be paid 500k to just practice for a year. No games.

Talent aside, it's a pretty tough watch in general. Whistles every 30 seconds. No flow to the game. Just not fun to watch unless there is one player that is transcending everything like Zion last year.

Yea, having great players like Zion play 1 year of college instead of 0 really sucks...

What about Ben Simmons?

College basketball is not dying. This will have no impact on the sport. The top 5 recruits last year were Wiseman, Edwards, Stewart, Anthony, Hampton. None of them were expected to be in the NCAA, one that was looking to be a very exciting tournament. It is much more important for 2nd and 3rd year players to return that aren’t ready for the NBA (Ty-Shon Alexander, Remy Martin)

Why can’t the NCAA adopt the baseball model?

one and done is stupid. either go back to letting them go straight to the NBA or make them stay in college for 3 years like football.

This is an NBA rule not an NCAA rule first of all.

Second the year that they spend dominating college is beneficial to the NBA and the player from a marketing and total earnings perspective.

One and done is going nowhere IMO.

In all honesty, I don’t know if I would mind all the top tier, one and done players going pro directly out of HS. I enjoy guys like Aaron Craft and Jon Diebler, who play on a team for years. It makes supporting the team more enjoyable to me, as you actually get to know players a bit. Obviously that will dwindle talent a bit, but it’s not like CBB is that great as it is

Simmons is a horrible example for your argument here. His year could have looked more exciting than it was if it wasn’t for Johnny Jones. He had the best collection of talent he was going to ever get in his coaching career aside from Simmons and still found a way to screw it up.

Yeah he was saying that 2 years ago. Yet here we are. Could be wrong but its self serving for the NBA plus in the long term I think its good for the individual as well. Look at the massive hype Zion got and endorsement deals.

He said last year the plan is for it to be gone by 2022. It's not something they can just change overnight.

It's 100% self serving for the NBA. One and done got instituted after a string of HS busts like Kwame Brown, Robert Swift, Martell Webster, etc.

It's designed to give scouts a year of tape on prospects vs higher level competition than high school.

Yeah and in 2018 he said the 2021 draft.

This year he will say well with the covid stuff we haven’t looked at it. 2023 at the earliest

Yea, They ain’t changing shite with one and done. If anything they’ll add a year to it for players .So 2 and done

Also, as someone said, not everyone that comes out of HS is Kobe KG or Lebron.
They want another year to scout them in much more competitive games, as well as how they play during a grind of traveling etc for a college season.
Although one could argue that HS basketball is basically becoming that with these ultra prep school AAU teams

Far from dead. They just need to adopt the same rules as football. Like every other sport, college basketball just needs the Rona to go away. The greatest sporting event is March Madness.

Is it me or are position roles more specialized now? That removes the incentive for some players to stay in college and round off their game. The NBA will gladly take them if they can project them into a role.
