Other than Jeter I really don't have a problem with this list

So has the 100m dash, now tell me how the runners from the 1930s would compete against runners from today

If they had the same training and Sam's surfaces same tech, etc, the absolute top guys from back then would probably would do pretty well.

Jessie Owens ran in 1936. Those guys also ran on dirt tracks and had heavy metal and leather spikes and most of them worked full time jobs on the side.

Babe Ruth swung a 50 ounce bat. They played in numerous ballparks that were absolute caverns and had to ride 20 hours on a train from Chicago from to Boston.

Comparing eras is stupid

Which is why the measuring stick has always been, how much more did you dominate your peers? And the answer to that question is nobody comes close to Ruth. Nobody can ever argue that. There has never been a baseball player that was so much better than his contemporaries. Nobody comes close in any sport...not even Federer or Jordan or Phelps.

Roll the tapes. Griffey was a freak athlete, Mays wasn’t on that level neither has a fielder or hitter. Again don’t let nostalgia deceive you, ain’t no back in the day to this game.

which is why modern analytics are great because they measure players against their peers and that makes a pretty fair case for players across eras

I think this is true for hitters more than pitchers, although stats like ERA+ do a pretty good job for pitchers as well.

In that case, he left off Tony Gwynn.

What kind of hitters/players do you think these guys are in today's game?

I'm not implying anything, just genuinely asking.

If you put them in a time machine and put them in a lineup, how do they do? Where are they ranked in terms of today's players?

I know these lists don't really factor that in, and they shouldn't.

I do think if you took them as kids and put them through the travel ball circuit, camps, etc that a lot of these players are growing up in now that they would dominate the league.

Making the assumption that they went through the same development as today's players.. probably consistently in the MVP discussion.

If you time machined them into a game facing someone like Verlander or McClanahan or Burnes, etc. with no prep... strike out every time.

What we know is that they were significantly better than their peers. I realize at the time that didn't include minorities, but the league was also a lot smaller.
