Isn’t that what he’s implying with that quote? Basically saying it’s not the kids fault they have shitty parents, shitty economic backgrounds, shitty neighborhoods and shitty schools.
Seems like he both identifies the bigger problem and tries to change a few lives as well.

Maybe, but I've never heard him say that single motherhood is out of control and is the real destroyer of opportunity.
This is the paradigm shift that needs to start happening, and NOBODY in his kind of position is addressing it.
I'm not at all suggesting that his heart is in the wrong place. It isn't.
What I am suggesting is that his, and many others like him, efforts are being used in the wrong places and are not going to have the kind of impact they are hoping for, because they aren't doing ANYTHING to impact the root of the problem.

There isn’t anything he can do about single moms in urban communities. Calling it out doesn’t do anything. At the end of the day it’s up to that individual father. He’s doing the best he can by donating to something that can help that kid who grew up with a single mother.
