Am I the only a-hole that thinks Chipper is/was vastly overrated? He seems like he was injured every season. Some people think he is a 1st ballot HOF'er and I think that is insane. Opinions?

Name me ten better third basemen to ever play the game.

Both are invalid because neither of them starts this way: 1) Brooks Robison 2) Mike Schmidt

The man is one of the few loyal players we had left in sports. He moved to leftfield for the betterment of his team when he was in his prime and one of the top 3 3rd basemen in the game, he reconstructed his contract to try and resign furcal and free up money for Atlanta to try and get other free agents which in this day and age is unheard of,

and he played his entire career for one manager and one team. If you don't like him for his stats you have to at least appreciate his loyalty... braves fan or not.

How was he always injured?

You do realize these past five years weren't his entire career correct?

It will be interesting, if Jones doesn't play next year. Not sure the waiting period for managers, and some of the players listed might play another year (they are all free agents)

2015 1st year of eligibility?
Ken Griffey Jr
Manny Ramirez
Chipper Jones
Trevor Hoffman
Pedro Martinez
Bobby Cox
Joe Torre

Hate to be a stickler, but Hideo Nomo won the RoY in 1995.

All of them deserve to get in except for Trevor Hoffman. I've always held relievers to much higher standards since most of them are failed starters to begin with. A 140 ERA+ in 1080 innings is not even close to being HOF caliber.

Aren't managers immediately elligible? I seem to remember Don Sutton talking on the radio earlier this season about how he was planning on buying Bobby Cox a big glass of wine and celebrating the induction in Cooperstown next year. Maybe he was mistaken or I heard him wrong.
