yea...gotta love it to when they make up a scenario no cubs fan as created just to mock said scenario. It's a lot easier than actually coming in levelheaded.

I've crunched the numbers here. I think the player being sent down has to logically be Junior Lake. With Baez moving to Chicago to play 2B, Alacantara moves to the OF and that makes an outfielder expendable. Coghlan, Schierholtz (maybe...maybe), Ruggiano are all safe. Sweeney is a possibility for DFA, but I think they like him and want to keep him. Doing that, Lake gets sent down.
Also, I think it's Fujikawa's 60th day on the DL. Chris Rusin could likely be DFA'd. I'd imagine he clears waivers and reports back to Iowa.
That's my guess.

i'm starting to hope iowa doesn't make the playoffs so it assures us that soler comes up sooner.

Parker down, Fuji not activated yet so they don't have to make that move. Some rumblings that nate will get DFA-ed. But you can bet it will be Lake or Nate.

I doubt it. I don't think he had a 40 man roster spot prior to being called up less than a week ago. Unless there is some rule 5 thing I'm missing to where he had to be on a 40 man spot this year then that would seem like a pretty rash move from an otherwise very calculating FO. But who knows, it's not like he's more or less deserving than any of the other replacement level guys listed.

Damn, Parker tossed me a ball last year in Philly. I have rooted for him to stick as a high-leverage bullpen guy in Chicago.

The future begins now. By this time next year we'll have Bryant, Soler and possibly Russell up as well with the hopes at Johnson, Edwards and one out of Tseng, Jokish or Black as productive 3, 4, 5 starters or productive bullpen arms.
With the continued development of Arrieta into a strong 2 and possible ace, if we can attract or trade for a decent #1-2 starter we could seriously contend for the wild card next year.
Ive never been so excited for "next year" as I am right now. If 2 of the fab 5 develop as everyone hopes they do I see no reason for us to not contend.
I think Bryant is a sure thing as there's ever been. Soler, as long as his health allows I think is a pretty safe bet as well.
I do worry about Javy. If he hits .260 with 25-30 homers from second base, he will be a perennial all star.
Russell seems to have that it factor and if anyone pushes Castro off of short it will be him.
I really think we have a very good possibility if hitting on at least 3 of the fab 5, and that leaves us with a still stocked cupboard to swing a deal for an impact arm or 2, especially with one more draft in which we pick in the top 10 and another international signing period in which we wont have any constraints.
Next year is the start of a 6-10 year run as a perennial World Series contender, and frankly we deserve it. Go Cubs Go. No more singing the blues in Chicago when baseball season rolls around.

that went about as well as could be expected. The 2 hole didn't really get him the fastballs early like we thought it would. Also, what was up with the high strikes last night?
