Almora & Russell each 4-5 tonight. Russell now hitting over .300 in AA. The log jam that is our infield is about to get worse if that's possible

Thanks for keeping the thread going, fellas. I've been a bit busy if late, not that anyone cares. But this really is a landmark time to be a Cubs fan.

At zephyr field. Soler out of the lineup tonight. Bryant, Baez, and Olt are in.

Cubs-Rockies still in the second inning. It took Edwin Jackson 64 pitches to get through two.
I swear Jackson pitches every time I watch the Cubs.

Charlie Blackmon just saved the game

Pretty absurd stuff tonight for the big league squad. Rockies and especially blackmon played stupid good defense. Cubs ultimately won in 16 behind the pitching of John Baker who also scored the winning run. First position player to get a win for the cubs and now has half as many cubs wins as shark. More TWTW than shark. Obviously.

I had to call it a night after 13.
I saw they used Arrieta as a pinch hitter over John Baker at one point. Wild and very slow game. Neither starter could find the strike zone.
Again, that Blackmon catch was play of the month shite.

hat tip, you made it longer than me.
Baker's comments have been great.
-he told RR that he'd be available to pitch today
-had to shake Beef off a couple of times
and from earlier this year
-took his number because he thought there'd be some old baker stuff that dusty left lying around.
Guy seems funny.

I'll try to post some pics here, too.

It was a good time. We sat 3 rows up from the Cubs on deck circle. Good spot, especially if you are bringing Mrs. Banana, b/c it was in the shade.
Soler got to PH in the 7th. First time seeing him in person, you can just tell he is a freak.
Baez just missed a bomb.
Mike Olt hit the ball well too.
Brett Jackson got tossed arguing with the ump.

That Kris Bryant sure is one dreamy fellow.

Can we give Baker Edwin Jackson's spot in the rotation?

I said I wouldn't do it again, but boredom is what it is.
Jackson's last two starts weren't that bad. Sure he's a lightning rod, and yes he's certainly overpaid for what we're getting, which justifies the flack he gets, but it is worth noting that last night's start or the one before wasn't as terrible as people like to make it out to be.

3 runs, 3 walks, and 100+ pitches in 4 innings?
Man, that's pretty bad

I don't see how you could call last night's start anything less than terrible.
He pitched 4 innings and gave up 6 hits, walked 3, gave up 3 runs and threw another wild pitch. His WHIP was 2.25. He threw like 66 pitches in the first 2 innings of the game.
At a point in time where the Cubs are throwing 2 rookies out there out of every 5 games and have a very young bullpen that has been taxed, the Cubs need the veteran starters to be able to go deeper into a ball game than 4 innings. ESPECIALLY when the game ends up going 16 innings.
Edwin Jackson is struggling BADLY.

yea but, and i understand that it's not just this start, or last start, it's two years of this shite, it's not as bad as the reaction to it.
ETA: Sorry it was two starts ago against the d-backs. he got slapped around by the pads last time out.

simple..by saying it wasn't as terrible as people make it out to be.
That leaves room for it to be terrible, but not warranting the albeit tongue and cheek, replace jackson with baker.

Don't disagree.
