it's not as bad as the reaction to it

I'm not sure what "the reaction" is, but his ERA is the worst in baseball among qualified starters and I'm pretty sure that it was last year as well. He has the highest WHIP among qualified starters and the fourth highest BAA.

Hitters are hitting .293 against him this year.

Basically, he really couldn't be any worse statistically. He is absolutely terrible.

Saying replace him with Baker is dumb and was hopefully a joke from anyone that said that, but Edwin Jackson shouldn't be a major league starting pitcher.

I would MUCH rather see them bring up Beeler and let him pitch some more.

Phish, while I want to see your side of the fence here, I think my reaction to this Edwin Jackson thing is that even though he's not THAT bad, he's still really not good and it's making him untradeable. And THAT'S what's bad, IMO.

Also, the Cubes got a real live person in exchange for Darwin Barney. A certain Mr. Jonathan Martinez, a 20 year old A-ball pitcher. How much does Martinez's life suck today?

Hey hey hey this thread is called "Chicago Cubs Super Prospect Futureboner Sploosh Emporium Thread" not "Chicago Cubs Overpaid Busts Currently Flaccid No Sploosh Emporium Thread" No more Edwin Jackson talk unless the words "trade" & "value" are mentioned

Speaking of, it looks like the Cubs are close to acquiring Felix Doubront from the Red Sox.

Bonifacio deal is teed up and getting close.

I'm guessing for a B-level arm.

The Cubs have acquired Felix Doubront from the Red Sox, tweets Jon Heyman of CBS Sports. Jon Morosi of FOX Sports first reported (on Twitter) that a deal was close.

The Red Sox will receive a player to be named later in return for the 25-year-old lefty, Jim Bowden of ESPN.com reports on Twitter.

Oh he's bad, very bad. I've (not since the off season) said otherwise. But this guy brings out the hyperbole like jaque jones did.

Dude was a great guy, just had some bad games at bad times. Same with LaTroy.

But if I hear someone say Neifi Perez, I'll shank'em

Ha.

But he hit that home run in 98 for the rox as they came back to beat the giants after the astros beat us that caused the 1998 play-in game. I figured there was no way that guy could ever do anything to ruin that good will for me...i was wrong...dead wrong.

Is it really Neifi's fault? I blame Dusty Baker for just about everything.

So with the addition of Doubront, what do we do with the rotation? I assume he'll be a starter because that's the main reason he wanted out of Boston. Move Wada to the pen if one of the lefties is traded?

Samardzija brings a bad vibe to team regardless of his numbers. He's a loser and has been since college.

and this

it's Jeff Samardzija, come back at the All-Star break and let's see what his ERA looks like

it's 2.92 by the way.

I would guess stays the same for the immediate future with him going to AAA with an eye on starting after being stretched out a bit and replacing wada or hendricks if they struggle.
