Does he really have a crappy attitude? I don't know if he's been accused of that. Aloof, sure.

I lump it together. Just seems like he really doesn't care sometimes.

His UZR/150, range factors, and DefWAR have all hovered around 0 (some years above & some below) since being with the Cubs until this turd of a year.

Last year he finished with a -0.1 overall WAR, even with his offensive component being a -25.7

Would love to get him off the mets...but he seems almost as untouchable to them as bryant is/should be to us.

That's what the overwhelming majority of MLB front offices thought about Addison Russell.

He's untouchable if Castro (who's not exactly cheap either) is the offer. Offer Russell for him and things get interesting.

As had no other top prospect to trade but Russell.

Keep Russell, we need new blood, imo.

Lou, his UZR has been in hte negatives every year except 2011

-2.0
-7.5
+2
-3.3
-5.3

He's never been a good fielder.

Oh I agree.
Cubs are stuck with Castro - signed for 5 more years, at not exactly a bargain deal - more than they are paying Rizzo for the the next 5.
and he's not a bad player so "stuck" may not be the right description.

The Cubs' deal with Castro is a pretty favorable contract for the Cubs.

The whole point of them signing his deal was so they could be stuck with him.

Yeah; I've only said he's more than adequate given how he's hit for his age (except 2013).

His DefWAR have been 3.6, -0.3, 9.2, 4.0, & -1.3; that -1.3 is a real black eye for just half of a season at one of the more important positions on the field though.

technically they were trying to get a bargain before he "blew up".

It's still a fair deal, he makes like $7mil a year. Hasn't exactly emerged as the player they though, though.

Of which there is still plenty of time. I still really like the deal. Cubs have him through his entire 20's, i like that.

Yea, there's time. But i think they expected to be more like Ryan Braun or Evan Longoria when they signed similar deals earlier in their career.

"As is", the value is fine.

Just going to put this here and hope our Astros friends don't jump off a cliff.

Astros #1 pick Aiken has ligament issue; Astros lower offer to $5MM.

He makes $5MM this year, $6MM next year, and $7MM in 2016.

For this year so far, Castro has been a great value actually...fangraphs shows that he's playing as a $10MM SS

Yeah. He won't be making 7 million until 2016 as you mentioned. He is right in the middle of the pack as far as starting MLB shortstops go. His offensive production is better than 90% of the ones above him salary wise also.

But I guess if you think he is supposed to be producing like Ryan Braun, you would be disappointed.
