He’s suspended for 2 games and will miss Rutgers Saturday and be back for Penn St and Michigan.

Based on the facts that have come out in the public (obviously not everything) he never should have been suspended at all.

Did we ever learn factually who he borrowed money from?

The timing/optics looks bad, but are we really pissed with the two game suspension for what happened?

Only issue would be if Ohio St had knowledge prior and slightly delayed it knowing two games would be the most likely outcome.

And while beating Penn St would be more difficult without him, I have a hard time seeing a different game outcome especially with it being in Columbus.

I have no problem with him only serving 2 games.. he shouldn't have been suspended at all.

I do have a problem with the NCAA acting swift on this decision, though. They drag their arse all the time but act quick on this?

The short answer is no

Longer answer is Mandel and Klatt said it was not an agent so that's why the suspension seems suspect at all. I think it was more just a CYA from OSU

Gotcha

shite, if it's an agent, the penalty is wayyyy too small.

if it's truly a family friend who isn't an agent or a booster, then even 2 games is wayyyyy too long.

I actually think they should give the starters a bye week against Rutgers and just let the 2nd and 3rd team pummel them. No reason Chase Young or any other starter needs to risk injury playing this clown show in Rutgers. I don’t think can score on us regardless of we put out there.

Hence my point. If it's not a booster/agent, then why was he suspended even a quarter? Because he didn't offer to pay interest on a loan from a family?

As I said, there must be more to get him 2 games, but it can't be much more or as you said he would be gone

IIRC they acted quickly for Cam Newton too.

it wasn't family, was it? It was "family friend." Which obviously is a pretty wide brush. Isn't the ultimate test "would he have been given a loan had you not been a Ohio St athlete?"
So yeah it may not be an agent, but there's still a grey area after that.

I think the NCAA test is was the family friend a family friend before his recruitment, which gets tricky in today's age where you have 8th graders being recruited

I tried to find my old post where I said exactly this would happen as soon as it was announced but either the thread or my post got deleted. But either way, yeah I'm gonna put on my shocked face

As someone who's team is on the outside looking in I love it. I want everybody 100% that's in the playoff. Can't wait.

Right because OSU is the only program to ever have had this happen.
