This has nothing to do with the Pros...since it's a college honor apparently.

And nothing to do with past greats who I never saw play.

But the best defensive player I ever saw play on actual TV was Steve Emtman...and Warren Sapp (who almost single-handidly beat '94 Nebraska in the Orange Bowl with a downward spiral Miami team.

Then Junior Seau in college.

Derrick Thomas’s final season at Bama has to be one of the best in the history of college football.

Mathieu really could have been an all-time legend if he had played as a junior.

Derrick Thomas is far and away the best in the recent era. His numbers dont seem real when you put them on paper

27 sacks in a single season

52 sacks for a career (only played 3 years)

He was good, but don't forget why, the guy on the other side of the line at the time for Pitt was Ricky Jackson! Guess which one is in the NFL hall of Fame?
