we just had a guy infer Mo is better than Maddux in the postseason.

Mo - 141 IP .70 ERA .75 WHIP 7.0 K/9 1.3 BB/9 .1 HR/9 5.24 K/BB
Maddux - 198 IP 3.27 ERA 1.24 WHIP 5.7 K/9 2.3 BB/9 .6 HR/9 2.45 K/BB

You can look at those stats and say Maddux was better than Mo in the postseason? Are you retarded? Again don't let the stats get in the way of your bullshite

Don't forget facing opposing pitchers added up to plenty of that postseason IP for Maddux, something Mo never got to do.

Mo in the postseason also faced better lineups, such as the Rangers then, the Indians, Moneyball A's and the 01 Mariners

Correct. He had three fantastic pitches, but the change up is what he's most known for. That thing was sick.

Comparing a starter to a closer is pretty funny.

Sure a little. Still doesnt change the fact we are fricking comparing Mo and Maddux

ETA: You know what helped Mos numbers? Only pitching 1.2 innings on average

Ikr.

It's great to have your best pitcher available every day

In a 7 game playoff series, Maddux would pitch roughly 21 innings

Mo would pitch 4 or so

In his 20+ year career he never came close to doing this. But I guess when none of the stats back up your argument you have to make some up.

You're still trying to compare a starter to a closer?

If velocity = greatness, then Rick Ankiel would be a Hall of Famer

I would have thought Maddux would give 3 starts.

He only pitched in one series that went to 7 games. And he gave 14 innings of work, or 7 innings per game......

So, I still contend on average, maddux would likely pitch 3 games for most teams in a 7 game series, and give roughly 21 innings of work. And mo would roughly on average pitch 3-4 games, and give you around 4 innings

mostly WAY higher leverage involved for Mo

Break it down then.

I broke it down

The Yankees played 157 playoff games with Mo( so roughly 1,413 innings)

No pitched 141 innings in the postseason

Or 9.98% of the innings

So, in a 7 game series, he would on average pitch 6.1 innings
