everyone was jacked when we were gonna trade Chandler for two stiffs who were gonna leave in FA last year and now we trade him for 1 legit guy and it's a bad move?

after this year hilton, daniels, and butler come off the books for like $13M if we so choose

then next year peja's $14M salary expires also, and i think mopete's $6M deal expires also

2010-11 expiring deals

peja for 15.3
mo pete 6.6
hilton 3.8

i just think if we would just let tyson walk, we could make a play for a 2nd tier FA this year.

and then the next year, we could package a combo of peja, mo pete, and hilton for a stud player

its just my two cents though

not that it matters, it sounds like this deal is all but done

Who was happy Chandler was going to be traded to OKC? That was an awful move.

the money's only an issue because chandler isn't healthy and isn't likely to be again.

we absofrickinlutely have to try and move rasual butler, devin brown, and antonio daniels with one of our contracts taht doesnt expire

bower has to do everything in his power to move peja

I don't know if there is much demand for shitty players who make a lot of money.

I'm not saying that he won't end up being a good player, I'm just saying you can't blindly say Thornton will be better than a player who was good enough to last 10 years in the NBA.

So would you be satisfied if Thornton came in and gave us, say, 4.5 ppg next year instead of the 4.4 MoPete was dropping?

yeah via trade, not via FA

and i think we STILL should package our expirings this year or next year to get a 2 who can slash

Thornton will score more than 4.5 off the bench imo because he has the ability to drop 10+ on any night off the bench. Dont forget who Kobe scored 81 on!

sounds like they're committed to trying and improving and winning even if they have to spend money

there it is

if this is the case, i like the move a lot.

but from all of the past bullshite and being tight arse cheap about it, this trade makes ZERO sense

if shinn wants to spend the money, im fine with it, i like it

well this all may take until the middle of 10/11 to fully come to fruition

we may just let daniels/butler walk and let that $10M expire then go for the big trade with peja

then let mo-pete expire

that's $16M/year off the books and we shoudl be able to get somebody good

i don't think Shinn has been cheap in new orleans.

Bower is an idiot, and has spent wildly on aging shooters. plus he got lucky and fell into a superduperstar that had to get paid.

Okafor is better than anyone the Hornets could have gotten in the future with cap space(assuming we had dealt TC and Peja). I can't see how this is a bad move.

if he didnt want to spend the money....he would have given CP3 away a long time ago. But from what ive heard, hed rather spend the money trying to win....then to give up on the next 3 years not trying.

I mean is a "second tier FA" going to be better than Okafor? I'd say he's something around that, with the potential to be better, since he is entering his prime. You're going to overpay for a FA no matter what anyway, might as well do it now instead of being shite for two years.

HELL YES !

Then Trade Daniels, Butler, Armstrong and Brown for Michael Redd !

MAKE A RUN at it...

Paul
Redd
Peja
West
Okafor

Bench
Collison
Posey
Thornton
JUJU
Need ONE MORE BACKUP BIG ! Someone to play the 4 or 5 and we are contenders !

Got scoring, Redd and West. Shooting Peja, Redd
Best PG in the league !
Defense Okafor and Posey

Just need one more bench player that can come in and Play 20 mins a game and give us 7 -10 points a game off the bench ! A big preferably!

you don't think we could win with Paul-West-Okafor, with a competent backup PG to spell Paul. we're not winning championships regardless. as presently constructed, we may not make the playoffs. Chandler's gonna play like 50 games this year tops.

is peja gonna go back to being peja of old and actually making big threes while still playing no defense?
