well this deal happens, and we wont have the fricking cap room for 3 years

and?

this trade concedes the next TWO years imo

we improved on the court

if we move daniels/butler/hilton for a good starter who can slash from the 2 we can compete now

I know, but I thought they were COMMITTED to getting under the cap this year, and that this was the cause of all the bellyaching?

ETA: The luxury tax, not the cap, sorry.

sounds like they're committed to trying and improving and winning even if they have to spend money

Player B is also a 2nd round draft pick, most of those don't pan out.

we competed in 2007-08 without a slashing two guard, no reason we can;t now. the hornets need to go out and sign a big like ike Diogu after this.

we absofrickinlutely have to try and move rasual butler, devin brown, and antonio daniels with one of our contracts taht doesnt expire

or package them for a really good player with a bad contract and compete now

im sure we could get mcgrady

bower has to do everything in his power to move peja

better to just let his deal expire now or move him when it's expiring

you get the point though. unless this is the first in a string of moves, we arent winning again for three years

Player A is an aging veteran who couldn't get minutes off the bench for a team with no bench for a coach who loves veterans. he was invisible last year when he did play and highly streaky the year before.

Player B is a rookie who has demonstrated the ability to score in college and in his only professional competition to date. also, the team thought highly enough of him to trade 2 draft picks for him.

take your pick
Ding Ding Ding!!!!

it's the NBA draft

most top 10 players don't pan out

you don't think we could win with Paul-West-Okafor, with a competent backup PG to spell Paul. we're not winning championships regardless. as presently constructed, we may not make the playoffs. Chandler's gonna play like 50 games this year tops.

I don't agree with this. This trade actually makes the hornets a mid to back end playoff team for 2-3 years and then leaves the hornets having to get a free agent with the little money theyll have left over from paying paul (worth every cent) and okafor (drastically overpaid).

I'm not saying that he won't end up being a good player, I'm just saying you can't blindly say Thornton will be better than a player who was good enough to last 10 years in the NBA.

Yeah no I'm not opposed to the deal, I completely agree with you. I think its an aggressive move that makes us better and has potential in the future. The potential runs both ways, but unless you get gifted a KG or Gasol, you've got to take some chances. It just seems like, on both sides, this came out of nowhere, and goes against what were formerly laid out plans for both clubs.

in 3 years we'll have a gutted team with cp3 and and old arse d-west (who is about to be let go)

and we will have to overpay for whatever FA would want to come here

i don't see how that's a better option

he only has to be better this year. i could care less about who has a better career.

btw, Mark Madsen has been in the NBA for almost 10 years

i dont consider okafor a premier center. hes playing out of position. hes 6-10, and thats his list height
