Collison, Thornton, Peja, cheap FA big, and Hilton is a decent bench.

I would say it goes from being easily one of the worst to easily in the bottom half.

dude our bench was trash this past year and the second reason why we sucked
im talking about this year dumbass. We got a new backup PG which is what kinda hurt us a little last year. MT is a better backup than DBrown. Posey is solid off the bench. If JuJu starts and Peja comes off the bench, that would make us better. And Hilton improves every year. And dont give me that crap about Hilton sucking so bad.

Collsion, Peja, Posey, and Thornton should have no problems putting up points. Collison is the key, he should be able to set up Peja & Posey where Daniels couldn't.

if you think about, most of the Hornets problems last year were due to having no center in there. They were 26th in rebounding, at the bottom of defense in the paint, etc. With Okafor these problems are solved for the most part. With an improved bench the Hornets could vault to a top 3 seed again.

Hilton won't matter much if we can snag Okafor, let alone the FA big we sign.

Yeah I'm all about optimism for the new guys, but someone needs to break out Milton's Jumping to Conclusions mat.

I didn't see this coming at all. Don't think this is a good trade from the Hornets perspective. It makes them slightly better this year and next year. Who gives a shite, so they'll be the 6 seed instead of the 8 seed. It kills them with a bad contract over the long run. The Hornets goal should be to shed salary by trading West and Posey (longest bad contract) to someone to get a decent young player and an expiring deal. That way they can compete for the playoffs (barely miss or 6-8 seed) and in 2 years make a run at free agents by selling them on playing with the best PG in the league. The goal is to compete for championships and you can't do that when you have a guy like Okafor $13 million a year.

Seriously, name one championship team that Okafor would be the 3rd best guy on. You can't pay max contract money to this type of player.

You don't think there's any chance he can improve those numbers? Shouldn't he be in his prime over the next 3-5 years?

at the expense of whom? if he takes more than 6 shots per game as a Hornet that is going to take attempts from someone else. Who do you want giving up shots to Okafor? Part of chandler's appeal is he doesn't need the ball.

4 more attmpts per game doesn't seem like much unless they are going to a guy that has:
"bad free throw shooter...not very skilled offensively...will probably never develop into a consistent scorer" on his hoopshype bio
