I was stationed at FT Sill that year and went to that game.
I agree it is a shame that rivalry went away. This is one of the reasons I like that the SEC has kept the permanent rivalries in place.

We all know if Texas called aTm to play they would.
aTm was brought into prominence by Texas, as was the other 8 in SWC. Don't act like aTm doesn't or never has needed Texas Athletics.

TAMU is a flagship school in the SEC, they don't need Texas.

I always heard that back in the day Texas and Arkansas had a bitter rivalry. Wouldn't mind seeing that one rekindled.
