I'm inclined to agree with you. Very productive pitcher for a very long time, but the 3000 strikeouts is doing a lot of work on that resume.

The Brewers gave zero fricks if his arm fell off too. They brought the phrase "drive it like a rental" to life. His last three regular season starts were on four days rest and then he pitched on three days rest in the playoffs. Dude was incredible during that stretch and did it even knowing he wouldnt be with the team the next year.

As someone who actually has cast Hall of Fame ballots:
1. He’s in because of 3,000 strikeouts. That’s an exclusive club and there’s no trash on that list. Kershaw will be in and Schilling should be in.
2. For the reasons cited in the OP, I probably would not have voted for him first ballot although I would have voted him in eventually.

CC is kinda how I feel about Scott Rolen. I thought Rolen was a good player. But he was never a guy to build your team around.
