I had a contract offer on the table that I was supposed to sign after the game in which I threw my arm out. It wasn't from the big club, but from their AAA affiliate. The GM and a scouting director had told me that had I not obliterated my shoulder, I could have potentially been in the bigs in 2 years. I had a blast up there, even considering how it ended. I can look back and say, I gave it my all.

Canada has some amazing facilities. Some of the best diamonds that I've played on were in Canada. Their dirt however, doesn't taste nearly as good as the dirt from Down South.

I can live with that. At least she gave me the option to buy the good stuff.

I miss the game so much. My shoulder starts tingling whenever it gets around the time pitchers/catchers report. It seems to want to throw.

I'll be traveling back up to the great north in the future. I still keep in touch with some of those guys that I played ball with/against, and I get invites to go up all the time. I might take ya up on that offer at a later date!

Never leave home without it. Timmy's is good, but nowhere near CC's level.

I'll make sure we bring plenty of Tiger gear for the hosts.

CBS News SI-Criminals in College FB

I read the article (most of it anyway). What I didn't see was anything that compared the percentage of arrestees (because they are counting arrests, not convictions) in the public in general and in college students overall and college students at the college that ended up in the poll.

I wonder if we took a poll of posters on TD.com how many will have been arrested.

I'm more interested in how far down the level of offenses go to be counted on here.

At Southern Miss, for example, it was very common to see people get citations for alcohol violations, which tended to be either "minor in possession of alcohol" if they were underage or "possession of alcohol in excess of 4% on state property" if they had wine or hard liquor.

Would a simple citation like that be counted on their background check since it's on public record in the Student Prints?

How about a misdemeanor for "malicious mischief" in connection with Halloween pranks as a kid?

It's one thing to call out the Iowas of the world who have star players running a crackhouse on the side, but it's another thing to say things about all athletes at a school without a VERY detailed breakdown of charges and, in some cases, potential mitigating circumstances.

Don't want to thread hijack, but I have some questions about the Portland area (specifically Lake Oswego) that I need your opinions on. Do you mind sending me an email to this address? tdawg1388@gmail.com This forwards to my real address, but don't want to put that on here.

From my post on the rant:

quote:

The video that was linked to the article said that minor arrests were thrown out. So arrests for PI, for instance, were not included.

Both good points. I watched the video on the story that was on The Today Show this morning. It paints this ghastly picture of the world of college football, but arrests of college students for DUI and possession happen all over the country. To lump every single arrest associated with a football program together, without regard to individual circumstances, is spinning the info to fit the argument.

None of these situations are good for a program and deserve punishment, but there aren't any worse kids playing football today than there were 20-30 years ago IMO.
