The games will still suck. they can paint it up all they want but outside of Ohio State their product on the field sucks.

SEC's deal with CBS ends after the 2023 season and ESPN takes over the SEC media rights in 2024. I'm not sure when this new Big Ten deal will start. If it starts in 2023, I'm not sure how CBS will handle it if they are still broadcasting SEC games. But by 2024, it won't matter because the SEC will no longer be broadcast by CBS.

Thank you good sir.

That's what it sounds like, but this cannot be correct is it? our conference is going to make less that 1/3 the money that the big 10 does for basically the same amount of time?

It's not about success but eyeballs. Very few people watch the SEC on the West Coast, nobody in the Northeast.

The Big10 has a huge alumni base on the West Coast and Midwest and Northeast.. where the population of this country is.

Basically the Big10 has millions more eyeballs than the SEC on any given Saturday watching their games. They have the largest alumni and fan base BY far!

They say that %-wise 1 out of every 100 Americans who graduated from ANY College, graduated from Penn State....and this country has thousands of Colleges.

Welcome to a hot, steamy, muggy Nashville Tennessee as the Vanderbilt Commodores look to break a 25-game SEC losing streak today as they play play host to the streaky Gamecocks group coming in at 3-5. I'm Dave Baker and here beside me are Dave and Dave. This game is brought to you by Golden Flake - the official chip of the SEC. After the timeout, we will speak to Woody Woddenhoffer on how the Dories plan to get off the snide. Its the SEC game of the week and you are tuned into Jefferson Pilot Sports!

Buy a plane ticket and see how wrong you are...lol

Check out Dillons in Boston to boo Alabama fans...Baseball Tavern to cheer on LSU

Hell the best college bar in Chicago is the Houndstooth and its Alabama...

Yes, big 10 have the numbers, but when it comes to football watching, they are not still there compared to the SEC.

I wish every conference would have done this instead of going all in with ESPN

The SEC is a huge loser in all this. We’re stuck with ESPN only. Terrible.

Not in basketball, eyeballs are on ESPN during midweek games…so it will be the ACC and SEC games. The BIG 10 may have screwed up, no one is going to watch games on FS1 or Peacock for midweek college basketball games…look at the BIG East, hardly anyone watches their games on Fox and FS1.

So what is ESPN going to do with all that B1G money burning a hole in their pocket?

Bolded are programs who will be in the SEC and are among the top 20 most-watched football programs from 2015-2019. The SEC has 10 of them, the Big 10 5 of them. And there are SEC alums who live in those major cities too. Regardless, southeastern TV markets have dominated college football viewership for over a decade, despite having an exponentially smaller population. It doesn't really matter how many people live in a city. It matters how many people are watching your games. The SEC far and away has more eyeballs on their games than any other conference.

The SEC with ESPN is in a better spot than most think. This is due to the non rev sports. Yeah they dont make money and football is driving all of this. But SEC fans will tune in to watch a midweek baseball game between Vandy and LSU for baseball for instance. Or Florida/OU softball. And with Texas amd OU coming in spring sports will be must watch. Not OSU/Michigan must of course. But decent. And i think the softball TV ratings from this year bear that out.

ESPN is the best partner for the SEC due to the non rev sports popularity in the South and number of options ESPN/ Disney can offer Imo.

And the SEC will be at a billion after Texas amd OU get roped into the TV deal next year. I think its a fine arrangement.

Meh the spring sports don’t matter for shite. They’re something to watch but let’s be honest, the SEC makes like 0.1% of their money from other than football and mens basketball. Other conferences are even less because they don’t play the baseball the SEC does

I love SEC football on CBS.

I hate games on ESPN. Have fun missing the first 20 minutes of an LSU game because ESPN doesn’t know how to stack games.
