That’s fine. What was the rule that they broke?

For years, the NCAA hoarded cash at the expense of athletes and penalized schools that tried to share the wealth. Today, the court said that isn’t right.

Catholic is giving guys opportunities and most are taking full advantage. If the technicality is the balance of aid offered or something like that, then hopefully Catholic doesn’t stop what they are doing. They are making a difference in the lives of a lot of young guys.

That's literally the whole issue. LHSAA won't say. Apparently by request of CHS.

Don’t act like CHS does not have feeders. Every 1-8 catholic school can feed them. If CHS wants to recruit fine but don’t pretend they do not have a source for student athletes without recruitment.

I think high school recruiting rules are ridiculous. If parents want to send a kid to a public or private school for education or athletic purposes they should be allowed. If I think little Johnny has better college opportunities attending a specific high school I should be able to find a way to get him there. Liberty High or Scotlandville should be able to recruit. Magnet schools, better education than public, and less cost to parents. They should be challenging Catholic for the football and basketball players

He was 100% recruited to Central.

10000000% false....
I played with JM all four yrs of High School.

Central was part of EBR school system at the time and they allowed Minority to Majority transfers.
Meaning if you were black and wanted to attend a majority white school, the parish would provide transportation to the school.

Ok… I know of 5 kids that are from central over the last 4 years that were given benefits to some degree to attend Catholic. I’m not mad at it, but I’d like to keep them if possible lol

He was also quoted as saying a CHS teacher took him under her wing and gave him tens of hours a week of personal tutoring.

I’m wondering if Catholic did any singing about what other schools may or may not have done… because other schools were probably scouting the same kids they were at the same time

There is no coddling at CHS. There are some students that will get additional help, but it’s not due to lack of effort.

You are definitely a gay bear. It must hurt your feelings that the school steeps themselves in honor and honesty, to find out its all a hypocrisy, perpetuated by the administration!

The biggest issue I have is those Catholic coaches beating their chest like they were the best coaches ever when in reality they just were better recruiters. Some of the best coaching I’ve seen are at small schools nobody knows a lot about. Sometimes a coach that goes 10-17 did a much better job than a coach that went 25-7.

Most St. Michael kids come from Most Blessed Sacrament and St. Jean Vianney. But a good amount from St. Patrick, St. George, St. Thomas More, and St. Jude, as well.

Catholic/SJA kids are heavily from St. Aloysius, Our Lady of Mercy, Sacred Heart, and the others listed above besides MBS and SJV. But it’s pretty common for siblings from the same family to go to different schools for high school.

All of the feeder schools in the BR diocese are technically feeders for Catholic, SJA, St. Michael, and Christo Rey. So a Sacred Heart kid can go to St. Michael and play right away, and a SJV kid could go to Catholic and play right away. This also applies to the feeder schools outside of EBR Parish like St. Theresa in Gonzales and Holy Family in Port Allen.

It hasn’t been much of an advantage for St. Michael, though. Doesn’t seem like we plan on taking football seriously anytime soon. Expect more consistently average seasons and first-round playoff exists until that changes.

I went to school there, was prevalent when I went there.

But most of all who cares?

If anything it’s good that good teenagers go to good programs and maximize their potential.

I also don’t give a shite if Catholic is good in any sport, since I have moved on from my adolescence.

Gabe was the best coach in the state for 4 years. Tell us all the blue chip recruits he had on the 2017 state championship team. I’ll give you a hint. Not one senior received a college football scholarship

Bring back Redemptorist! It was already in decline in enrollment but once Central became their own school district, it was the nail in the coffin for Redemptorist.
