A lot of shots are contested in the NBA, what's your point?. It will be interesting to see how KD fares without Westbrook .

there is a big difference in a contested shot at the rim and a contested 18-20 foot jumper

Mello does tend to be a black hole sometimes....the ball goes to him and never comes out

Melo is one of the best iso players in the game. But I don't think he could coexist with another superstar player. He would not be able to play so well with a guy like Westbrook taking shots away from him like Durant has.

Anthony has a better combination of inside/outside scoring ability. He is a very good low post, isolation, and outside scorer.

As I said, Durant is a great shooter, and obviously a great scorer in his own right. His slight frame holds him back on his low post game, even though his numbers don't suffer much because of it. It's not so much of a knock on Durant, because he's a different kind of player. I just think Carmelo has a more complete game offensively.

Ask yourselves this...if you're starting a franchise and you get to pick any current player (aside form LBJ), who are you taking? I'm betting a great majority of people would easily take Durant over Melo.

Durant is a better player, teammate and his skill set is leaps and bounds better than Melo's.

Melo is a ball stopping, ball hog with no shooting efficiency that doesn't play defense.

For those saying that Melo is a more complete/efficient scorer, why is there not a single measurable statistic that supports this belief?

And that's before even considering the defensive side of the ball.

As SFP said, I don't think there's anything that Melo does better than Kevin Durant.

Having seen both play in person, KD many many times...melo works for mediocre shots and Durant carves out easy shots...so smooth...Durant is a complete player...

Melo has worked his arse off this year though

In late game situations you would rather have Durant?

Yes. He shoots better, gets to the free throw line better, rebounds better, and passes better in late game situations. And he plays better overall defense. The only thing Melo really does better than Durant is offensive rebound, and that's mostly style of play/scheme for the team. Durant is more likely to be on the perimeter with Westbrook driving the lane. Also, most of Melo's offensive rebounds are off his own misses it feels like, which wouldn't exist if he'd just finish his original shot better. That limits some of their value, not all of it obviously.

Also just a comment to someone else, I'd argue Durant is as good, if not a better, post up player than Melo he just does it half as often.

Melo gets a lot of offensive boards and tip ins off of his misses. Right now melo is reaching his prime and I'd take him over durant in these playoffs. Once durant learns to play better in the paint and matures more he will definitely hsve the better career. That being said im a melo fan... anybody see the shots this guy is making? Durant is just long.

Wow. I can't believe some people would really take Melo over Durant. It's like bizarro world in here. I didn't even realize that this could be argued. You take the guy who is four years older and has made all of one conference finals. But hey, he's killing the celtics right now...

melo makes the game too hard on himself. He simply doesn't understand the value of passing the rock. He's terrified he won't get it back, so he'd rather take a bad shot himself than risk not getting any shot at all. Melo is an exceptional scorer, but he's not an elite player. His career playoff record speaks for itself. Durant is the 2nd best player on the planet.

Durrant easily IMO

Melo should be a lot more than just a scorer with his size.

Im a knicks fan and i love melo, but durant is a more complete player. Melos pull up jumper is unstoppable.

But this right here:
quote:

Shows you havent watched the knicks play this year. Melo has been much better this year passing the ball and playing d.
